The dreams of making the playoffs are over for Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys, who’ll spend the time remaining browsing memes making fun of them for getting beaten at home by the Carolina Panthers on Thanksgiving.
Romo had an awful game before injuring his collarbone again, which means the season is over for him. He threw three interceptions in the first half, including two for touchdowns and in one instance two in a row.
Cam Newton didn’t have to work very hard – the defense did all the work, en route to a 33-14 win, which means the Panthers remain undefeated, and the Cowboys can now stick to reality, which is start planning for the 2016 season.
In the meantime, they can enjoy Matt Cassel at quarterback for the rest of the year, with no delusions of somehow turning their 3-8 record into something positive. Even in the terrible NFC East, they don’t stand a chance of making the postseason.
