If meme makers were going crazy after the Miss Universe pageant, it was only because this usually boring ceremony became legendary when host Steve Harvey (the Family Feud guy) got the winner wrong, calling out Miss Colombia first only to take the crown away from her and give it to Miss Phillippines.

These women do have names by the way: Pia Wurtzbach, a Filipina-German actress, the actual winner of the contest in that stunning turn of events, while Ariadna Gutierrez was the Colombian who for a couple of minutes basked in the glory of being Miss Universe, only to have it taken away from her, becoming first runner-up.

Harvey took the blame, saying he read the cards wrong, something he does for a living for quite a lot of time. This time, the faces he makes when one of the contestants on FF says something funny, stupid or sexual, he couldn’t get out of the mess he created.

We know he won’t be invited again to host the show (unless the organizers have some hidden sense of humor). But I hope this blows over or isn’t taken too seriously. It’s only Miss Universe, not an NFL game.
