The Aaron Ramsey Goals-Celebrity Death Curse Strikes Again

The Aaron Ramsey Goals-Celebrity Death Curse Strikes Again

Aaron Ramsey

It’s been awhile since the Aaron Ramsey goalscoring curse which is often linked to celebrities dying has been mentioned, but his recent goals for Arsenal and the deaths of David Bowie and Alan Rickman brought it back into relevance.

Dating back to 2009, Ramsey goals for Arsenal and Wales have preceded the deaths of Andres Montes, Antonio De Nigris, Osama Bin Laden, Steve Jobs, Muammar Gaddafi, Whitney Houston, Chavela Vargas, Bebo Valdes, Jorge Rafael Videla, Ken Norton, Paul Walker, “Huracan” Carter, H.G. Giger and Robin Williams before having an effect on Bowie and Rickman, who might also lead up to another, new curse: Is 69 the new 27?

Maybe it’s just Ramsey. On January 9, he scored a goal against Sunderland, and the next day Bowie died. He scored on January 13 against Liverpool. About 14 hours later, Rickman died as well.

The deaths usually happen up to three days from his goals, but it can also be a quick effect, with the death happening within less than 24 hours. That’s the scary thing about it: No one really knows when Ramsey will score, he’s not Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. The deaths that follow are often surprising as well. Rickman and Bowie being seriously sick wasn’t something the masses knew about. People in the know are always on alert for about 72 hours after Ramsey scores.

There’s no real to worry about Ramsey. He has scored 45 goals in his club career for Arsenal, Cardiff and Nottingham Forest. While there have been some past and recent occurrences that might lead to the suspicion of some developing trend or conspiracy theory, it’s nothing more than a coincidence, with some tragic flavouring to it.
