NBA Scores & Standings

While the storm rages in the East, cancelling two games, the most interesting place in the NBA on Saturday was Cleveland, where the Cavaliers lost their first game after firing David Blatt to the team that usually handles them pretty well in the regular season: The Chicago Bulls. The Charlotte Hornets with the Lin-Walker combo won two games in a row for the first time in a month, the Phoenix Suns needed a miracle shot to actually win a game and while inconsistent as anyone right now, the Portland Trail Blazers are fun to watch with their dynamic backcourt duo that lit up the Los Angeles Lakers.

New York Knicks 84  Charlotte Hornets 97: A huge game for Jeremy Lin against his former team, scoring 26 points while Kemba Walker did the same, as the Hornets win two games in a row for the first time since December 29.

Milwaukee Bucks 99  New Orleans Pelicans 116: The Pelicans win four out of five for the first time this season behind 57 points from their bench, including 23 for Ryan Anderson, while Anthony Davis adds 22 points. They hit 17 three-pointers (54.8%) while the Bucks turned the ball over 18 times and got nothing, or close to it, from their bench, while the entire lineup scored in double figures.

Memphis Grizzlies 101  Minnesota Timberwolves 106: A rare sight to see the Timberwolves win twice in one week and not being the team that blows a lead. Shabazz Muhammad scored 25 points off the bench while Andrew Wiggins added 19 points, stopping the Grizzlies four game winning streak. Mario Chalmers led Memphis with 19 points.

Chicago Bulls 96  Cleveland Cavaliers 83: The first game under Tyronn Lue ends in a home loss for the Cavaliers (only their third of the season) against a team they still haven’t beaten this year. Pau Gasol scored 25 points, Jimmy Butler added 20 and the Bulls played great defense to hold the Cavaliers to 37.2% from the field and 16.7% from beyond the arc. LeBron James scored 26 points to go with 13 rebounds and 9 assists.

Atlanta Hawks 95  Phoenix Suns 98: An Embarrassing loss for the Hawks against a crumbling team, as Archie Goodwin hit the game winning 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds on the clock. Goodwin led the Suns with 24 points, helped out by 16 from P.J. Tucker and the same from Alex Len. It was only the Suns’ second win in their last 17 games.

Detroit Pistons 101  Denver Nuggets 104: The Nuggets keep hovering around playoff territory with another impressive Danilo Gallinari performance, scoring 30 points, helped out by Emmanuel Mudiay scoring 18 points and Nikola Jokic adding 17. Drummond played just 18 minutes due to foul trouble, finishing with 4 points.

Los Angeles Lakers 103  Portland Trail Blazers 121: The most explosive backcourt outside the Oracle Arena finished with 64 combined points: 34 for Lillard, 28 for McCollum, running all over the Lakers, getting 21 points from D’Angelo Russell and just 10 from Kobe Bryant.

Indiana Pacers 97  Sacramento Kings 108: Paul George scored 34 points for the Pacers, but that was about it. DeMarcus Cousins finished with a career high 48 points as the Kings won a fifth-straight game. They really didn’t need much besides his performance, that also included 13 rebounds.

Two games were postponed due to the bad weather on the East coast: Utah Jazz at Washington Wizards & Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers.
