Maybe the greatest finish ever to a college basketball championship game became the night of Crying Jordan memes, instead of the night Kris Jenkins gave Villanova the title with a buzzer beating three pointer over North Carolina.
Just kidding. Jenkins and the Wildcats, winning the national title for the first time since 1985, certainly had their moment in the spotlight. But the hours afterwards belong to people making jokes and fun on the Internet. There, Michael Jordan ruled, as it should be when the Tar Heels lose on such a big occasion.
In a game filled with turnaround, North Carolina climbed out of a 10-point hole in the second half, tying the game on a crazy Marcus Paige three pointer, leaving 4.2 seconds on the clock. Turns out it was enough for Villanova and Jenkins to pull something off.
Michael Jordan himself was in attendance, which made things even easier for meme makers to mess around with. A couple of months ago another North Carolina team, the Carolina Panthers, lost in the Super Bowl, which kind of makes it a close but no cigar year for teams from the state.
