MLB Rumors – Baltimore Orioles Can’t Lose, Atlanta Braves & Minnesota Twins Stuck on Zero

Chris Davis, Bobby Dickerson

Another day of Baseball and nothing changes. The Baltimore Orioles keep on winning to remain the only undefeated team in the 2016 MLB Season while both the Minnesota Twins and the Atlanta Braves pick up another loss, remaining winless as we enter day number 10 of the season.

The Orioles had no problem ruining the opening day party of the Boston Red Sox, the last time David Ortiz will have an opening day at Fenway Park. The Orioles didn’t get much from their pitchers, as Yovani Gallardo allowed 7 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings, followed by T.J. McFarland blowing a lead. However, the hitting was superb, as always. Both Chris Davis and Mike Trumbo picked up three-run homers, while Davis also added a two-RBI single earlier on. Brad Brach got the win (his second of the season) while Zach Britton had his third save of the season, although a tense one, allowing two hits.

The Braves offense looked better than usual with 8 hits against the Washington Nationals but still lost 6-4, making it their first 0-6 start since 1988. Bud Norris started, giving up nine hits and five runs, falling to 0-2 with a 6.00 ERA. Nick Markakis and A.J. Pierzynski both got a couple of RBIs but the Braves twice lost early leads.

The Twins looked bad in their 4-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox, falling to 0-7. Kyle Gibson wasn’t so bad, but still fell to 0-2 with a 4.22 ERA, giving up six hits, not making it out of the sixth inning. The Twins did get six hits but were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring positions. Their only run came when Eddie Rosario grounded into second, helping Miguel Sano score. Orioles play the Red Sox again next, with Mike Wright scheduled to start, his first game of the season. In their next game against the Nationals the Braves are starting Jhoulys Chacin, also a debut for him on the mound this season. The Twins start Phil Hughes in their next game against the White Sox. He’s 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA heading into his second start.
