The biggest signing of the offseason, Zack Greinke, finally posted a win for the Arizona Diamondbacks, over the San Francisco Giants. Meanwhile, both the Washington Nationals and Chicago White Sox kept their winning ways going, relying on excellent pitching (especially by Chris Sale) and a little bit of star power, which Bryce Harper is a perfect fit for.

Colorado Rockies 5  Cincinnati Reds 6: A game that was probably more about the umpire’s decision in the 7th when Dustin Garneau was called out which led to a three minutes review upholding the call, denying the Rockies from tying the game. Instead the Reds took a 5-2 lead. The Rockies tied it up at 5 all with a two-RBI hit from Ben Paulsen, but a single by Tucker Barnhart scored Brandon Phillips in the 9th, winning the game.

Los Angeles Angels 1  Chicago White Sox 2: The White Sox continue their very good start to the season as Chris Sale allows only two hits in seven innings, improving to 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA. A Tyler Saladino home run and an Austin Jackson sacrifice made the offensive difference.

Seattle Mariners 2  Cleveland Indians 1: Taijuan Walker did a great job with only three hits allowed in six innings, striking out six as well. A Norichika Aoki triple in the second inning gave the Mariners their winnings runs. All the Indians could do was respond in the third with a Jason Kipnis RBI off of sac fly. Both teams combined to get only 7 hits.

Detroit Tigers 3  Kansas City Royals 2: Jordan Zimmermann is 3-0 with an 0.00 ERA, striking out 8 in 6.1 innings, escaping some uncomfortable situations, giving up 7 hits. Ian Kennedy had a pretty good day too, but still gave up two runs. The Tigers took a 3-0 lead through Ian Kinsler (two singles) and Victor Martinez. Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez hitting home runs off the bullpen weren’t enough.

Chicago Cubs 3  St. Louis Cardinals 5: The Cardinals finally beat the Cubs thanks to a strong performance by Carlos Martinez and a great closing inning by Trevor Rosenthal. The Cardinals took a 4-0 lead, getting two runs in the first with Matt Holliday hitting a two-run homer. The Cubs got three runs to put some pressure on St. Louis going into the 8th, but a Yadier Molina RBI single gave them enough of a cushion.

Toronto Blue Jays 3  Baltimore Orioles 4: The Orioles led 3-0, the Blue Jays came back with Edwin Encarnacion and a Josh Donaldson home run, but a passed ball allowed Caleb Joseph to score in the 10th for the dramatic, happy ending.

Oakland Athletics 5  New York Yankees 2: Yankees lose two in a row and are at the bottom of the AL East. Nathan Eovaldi wasn’t terrible in his start, but gave up three runs and didn’t get run support to help him out. The home runs from Carlos Beltran and Didi Gregorius weren’t enough against 11 hits and a lot of offense.

New York Mets 4  Philadelphia Phillies 5: Bartolo Colon was solid in his start, but the Mets bullpen blew it when it was Addison Reed on the mound. Home runs from Yoenis Cespedes and Lucas Duda put the Mets back in the lead, but a Peter Bourjos single sent the game into extra innings and in the 11th, it was Bourjos again, reaching third on an infield single while Freddy Galvis scored.

Tampa Bay Rays 3  Boston Red Sox 7: Big day of offense for Boston with 12 hits. David Ortiz had three RBIs while going 2-for-4 and Mookie Betts hit a two-run homer and overall third of the season for him.

Los Angeles Dodgers 5  Atlanta Braves 3: The Braves led 3-0 by the time the 4th inning ended, but a Joc Pederson single and Adrian Gonzalez hitting a two-run homer tied things up. In extra innings, the Dodgers scored twice in the 10th before Kenley Jansen picked up his sixth save of the season, keeping his ERA at 0.00.

Washington Nationals 3  Miami Marlins 1: Yusmeiro Petit did a great job with four innings of pitching relief while Ryan Zimmerman, Bryce Harper and a Michael Taylor home run took care of things on offense.

Houston Astros 1  Texas Rangers 2: The Lone Star State series saw Cole Hamels move up to 3-0 this season, striking out seven in 6.2 innings. A rougned two-run homer in the second inning kept the Rangers in front for the entire game. It was his second of the season.

Minnesota Twins 5  Milwaukee Brewers 10: Both teams combined for 25 hits, but the Brewers kept smakcing home runs, including a two-run homer by Chris Charter, his fourth of the season. Jonathan Lucroy had two RBIs on a double that scored two runners.

Pittsburgh Pirates 2  San Diego Padres 8: Drew Pomeranz had a 10-strikeout performance in less than seven innings, as the Padres took an 8-0 lead by the fourth inning, including Matt Kemp hitting his fifth home run of the season.

Arizona Diamondbacks 2  San Francisco Giants 1: Zack Greinke has his first win with the Diamondbacks (1-2, 5.25 ERA), striking out 7 in 6.2 innings. His run support and the winning offense bit came in the form of a Welington Castillo two run homer.
