The Chicago White Sox and New York Mets maintain the longest winning streak in Major League Baseball with 4th consecutive victories, while the Pittsburgh Pirates, Seattle Mariners and Boston Red Sox notch consecutive wins as well. The Atlanta Braves lost for the sixth consecutive time.
Chicago White Sox 7 Toronto Blue Jays 5: In a game with a combined 25 hits, the White Sox climbed back from being 5-1 down to win late thanks to Todd Frazier, first with a double that scored two in the 7th to put the White Sox in the lead and then adding another RBI in the 9th with a sac fly.
Oakland Athletics 3 Detroit Tigers 7: A big day for Miguel Cabrera with two home runs (only three this season) while Jordan Zimmermann improved to 4-0 on the mound this season, even if it wasn’t the smoothest of performances from him.
Boston Red Sox 1 Atlanta Braves 0: The Red Sox lean on Ricky Porcello with six strikeouts and only four allowed hits in 6.1 innings to blank the Braves while Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a home run in the 7th inning to provide the only score of the game.
Cincinnati Reds 3 New York Mets 5: Noah Syndergaard struck out nine in less than seven innings although he didn’t pick up the win. The Mets won thanks to offense, as Michael Conforto, Lucas Duda and Neil Walker hit home runs and Jeurys Familia picked up his sixth save of the season.
Baltimore Orioles 0 Tampa Bay Rays 2: Chris Archer finally gets a win (1-4, 5.47 ERA) as he strikes out 10 and doesn’t allow a run or walk in 6.2 innings. Offense came through Curt Casali with an RBI double in the 5th and getting hit by a pitch in the sixth while the bases were loaded.
New York Yankees 3 Texas Rangers 1: Nathan Eovaldi looked great with only two hits allowed while striking out six in seven innings. Jacoby Ellsbury, Mark Teixeira and Starlin Castro provided the offense with an RBI each, in the form of home runs for Castro and Ellsbury.
Cleveland Indians 3 Minnesota Twins 4: Yan Gomes tied the game at 3-3 in the 8th inning with a home run, but the Twins recaptured the lead for good with a walk off home run from Oswaldo Arcia.
Pittsburgh Pirates 6 Colorado Rockies 1: Jeff Locke was great for the Pirates, not allowing a run in his six innings (striking out 8). Matt Joyce provided the offensive cushion with a three-run homer in the 7th.
St. Louis Cardinals 7 Arizona Diamondbacks 12: A big day for Jean Segura and Chris Owings, both with three RBIs. Segura hit his fourth home run of the season while Owings was at bat in scoring plays on four occasions, including when striking out.
Kansas City Royals 1 Los Angeles Angels 6: A strong day for Garrett Richards on the mound with five k’s and an excellent day for Albert Pujols, hitting two home runs while Mike Trout added one of his own.
Houston Astros 2 Seattle Mariners 3: Taijuan Walker struck out 11 in seven innings for the Mariners while allowing one run and one walk. The Astros had the lead on a Carlos Gomez home run, but the Mariners got homers of their own through Leonys Martin and Kyle Seager, while Robinson Cano added an RBI of his own.
Miami Marlins 3 Los Angeles Dodgers 2: Wei-Yin Chen got his first win of the season on the mound (1-1, 4.32 ERA) while a Giancarlo Stanton home run and RBI double provided most of the offense for the Marlins.
San Diego Padres 4 San Francisco Giants 5: Madison Bumgarner finally wins a game (2-2, 3.64 ERA) as the Padres seemed to wake offensively, but a bit too late. Buster Posey and Hunter Pence both hit home runs while Angel Pagan got himself a couple of RBIs too.
