The Chicago Cubs stay a bit ahead from the rest of Major League Baseball with a fourth consecutive win, although the New York Mets, Miami Marlins and Pittsburgh Pirates are just as hot, in contrast to the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers and surprisingly, the Kansas City Royals.

Chicago White Sox 3  Baltimore Orioles 6: Carlos Rodon couldn’t contain the Orioles hitters, as Nolan Reimold hit a three run homer and in the 7th to break a 3-3 tie and give the O’s their second straight win over the White Sox.

Cleveland Indians 3  Philadelphia Phillies 4: The red hot Phillies came back from 0-3 down to win in the 11th inning on a Ryan Howard home run, as their struggling first baseman hit his fifth homer of the season on a 3-for-5 day, improving his troubled hitting to .214.

Atlanta Braves 1  Chicago Cubs 6: Jon Lester looked great, striking out 10 in seven innings, but the win went to Pedro Strop as a grand slam home run by Matt Szczur in the 8th inning took care of the win for the Cubs.

Cincinnati Reds 1  Pittsburgh Pirates 4: Juan Nicasio struck out 8 while giving up only three hits in seven innings to back the Pirates into the win, getting home runs from Josh Harrison and Matt Joyce.

New York Yankees 2  Boston Red Sox 4: The Yankees lose a third consecutive game, dropping a 2-0 lead late, with Jackie Bradley Jr. tying things up with a double and David Ortiz winning it in the 8th on a two-run homer, only his fourth this season.

San Francisco Giants 1  New York Mets 13: Nightmare day for the Giants, and especially Jake Peavy and Mike Broadway on the mound. Yoenis Cespedes hit home run number seven of the season which happened to be a Grand Slam. The Mets scored 12 runs in the third inning, with six of the RBIs belonging to Cespedes.

Toronto Blue Jays 6  Tampa Bay Rays 1: Aaron Sanchez looked good in his win with six k’s while Michael Saunders hit two home runs. Josh Donaldson and Ryan Goins hit homers too.

Los Angeles Angels 2  Texas Rangers 4: Colby Lewis gave up nine hits and didn’t strike out anyone but still got the win. The Angels led by two runs heading into the 5th but a home run by Ryan Rua turned the tide, followed by RBIs from Prince Fielder, Ian Desmond and Mitch Moreland.

Miami Marlins 6  Milwaukee Brewers 3: The Brewers got things going in the ninth but it was too late, already falling behind by six runs. Adam Conley struck out 7 in 7.2 innings while Justin Bour gave the Marlins five of their RBIs with two home runs and an RBI double.

Detroit Tigers 9  Minnesota Twins 2: Michael Fulmer got the win with five innings of work and Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez and Nick Castellanos provided the power with a home run each, as the Tigers got 18 hits on the day.

Washington Nationals 5  St. Louis Cardinals 4: Stephen Strasburg improved to 4-0 with nine strikeouts while home runs from Michael Taylor and Danny Espinosa powered the Nationals to the win.

Colorado Rockies 9  Arizona Diamondbacks 0: Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story both made it to 10 home runs this season while Ray Raburn and Nick Hundley got big hits of their own. Tyler Chatwood got the win for the Rockies, striking out four in 6.1 innings.

Houston Astros 4  Oakland Athletics 7: The Astros had a 4-2 lead going into the 8th but Ken Giles blew it and Tony Sipp got the loss. Marcus Semien and Yonder Alonso provided the clutch, winning home runs.

Kansas City Royals 0  Seattle Mariners 1: Felix Hernandez is only 2-2, but it comes with a 1.38 ERA while doing an excellent job throughout 7.2 innings before Nick Vincent and Steve Cishek closed it out. A Seth Smith home run provided the sole scoring success for Seattle.

San Diego Padres 5  Los Angeles Dodgers 1: A fifth loss in a row for the Dodgers, as a Matt Kemp three-run homer broke a 1-1 tie in the 8th. On the mound, Cesar Vargas with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings and great work from the bullpen, especially Brandon Maurer (3 k’s in one inning), did the job.
