The Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals keep winning while the New York Mets got themselves an impressive shutout, but the Boston Red Sox might be the hottest team right now following their win against the Chicago White Sox, and even the New York Yankees looked impressive, shutting out the Baltimore Orioles.

Chicago Cubs 6  Pittsburgh Pirates 2: Jon Lester moves up to 3-1 with a 1.58 ERA after striking out five, just shy of six innings. Ben Zobrist hit his second home run of the season, Anthony Rizzo added three hits, including his ninth homer of the season.

San Francisco Giants 4  Cincinnati Reds 7: The Reds blast four home runs as Jake Peavy’s season continues to get worse. Eugenio Suarez had three hits and three RBIs, including a two run homer in the second inning off of Peavy.

Atlanta Braves 0  New York Mets 8: Steve Matz allowed only two hits in 7.2 innings while striking out 8 batters, while offensively it was Lucas Duda doing a lot of damage, hitting a couple of home runs.

Los Angeles Angels 7  Milwaukee Brewers 3: Mike Trout had two RBIs off a home run and a triple, while the Angels took control of the game late, coming from behind to score five runs in the 8th and 9th innings.

Washington Nationals 13  Kansas City Royals 2: Stephen Strasburg struck out 7 batters in his six innings, improving to 5-0 thanks to the offense. Bryce Harper hit his 10th home run and Daniel Murphy got number four for the season. Murphy had three RBIs altogether, finishing with 4-for-5 at the plate.

Seattle Mariners 9  Oakland Athletics 8: The Mariners did let a lot of good opportunities go to waste (3-for-12 with runners in scoring positions) and Felix Hernandez had a bad day which didn’t drag his team down. Nelson Cruz hit a HUGE home run while Dae Ho Lee hit a couple of them, as the Marines stormed back from four runs down thanks to Lee’s two homers.

Colorado Rockies 2  San Diego Padres 0: Tyler Chatwood had a strong, 8-inning performance with seven k’s and just one walk. Offense came from Christian Adames and D.J. LaMeahieu, both on plays they were called out on.

Detroit Tigers 0  Cleveland Indians 4: Corey Kluber threw 111 pitches in nine innings to shutout the Tigers while the Indians got all of their offense in the 4th inning off of Anibal Sanchez.

New York Yankees 7  Baltimore Orioles 0: The Yankees stop their losing after six straight games, blanking the Orioles. CC Sabathia looked good in seven innings with six k’s. Brian McCann had three RBIs on two hits but the Yankees are still at the bottom of the AL East.

Texas Rangers 3  Toronto Blue Jays 4: A two-run homer by Edwin Encarnacion (HR number four this season) tied the game in the sixth, and a Russell Martin single RBI in the ninth won the game for the Blue Jays.

Arizona Diamondbacks 3  Miami Marlins 4: Jose Fernandez didn’t have the smoothest of starts but still got the win with 7 k’s in five innings. Giancarlo Stanton hit another one of his huge home runs, number nine for this season.

Los Angeles Dodgers 5  Tampa Bay Rays 8: The Rays of all teams got four home runs, three off of the struggling Alex Wood. The biggest one came from Steve Pearce in the sixth, also scoring Evan Longoria and Brandon Guyer, who hit a home run of his own too.

Boston Red Sox 5  Chicago White Sox 2: The Red Sox are scorching as David Ortiz hit home run number 509 of his career and sixth of the season. Clay Buchholz had a rare good start (1-3, 5.71 ERA), allowing three hits in seven innings while striking out six.

Minnesota Twins 4  Houston Astros 16: The Astros got a wonderful job from their bullpen and an offensive explosion all throughout the game, including an 8th home run this season by Jose Altuve and also three RBIs for Carlos Correa, hitting a home run as well.

Philadelphia Phillies 4  St. Louis Cardinals 5: The Cardinals slowly made their way back from falling four runs behind, winning on a 9th inning single RBI by Matt Holliday. Kevin Siegrist got the win, striking out three to finish the game.
