Another year, and nothing changes. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are walking all over the Atlanta Hawks, and the meme makers are celebrating the inequality.
This time it was painful to watch. The Cavaliers netted 25 three pointers, a new NBA record for a regular season or playoff game, and finished the first half leading by 36 points, on their way to a 2-0 lead in the series. The Hawks couldn’t find anyone who wanted to attend the postgame conference, so Mike Muscala ended up going, answering questions reporters wanted to ask more meaningful players.
And the Cavaliers? While this game is something of an anomaly, their way of mishandling the Hawks isn’t. It’s been happening since the previous postseason, when they swept Atlanta in the conference finals. Now this might not end up in a sweep, but the Cavaliers haven’t lost to the Hawks since, and have yet to even lose a game in these playoffs.
And here we are, marching towards something most of us knew would happen back in November. Well, maybe there will be slight variations and difficulties, but right now, the Cavaliers and the Warriors look like they’re on a collision course towards a repeat of the 2015 NBA Finals. The Hawks have no intention, or capability, of getting in the way.
