The Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals split their doubleheader, the Chicago Cubs got some late help on the mound and at bat from Travis Wood, and the San Francisco Giants keep on beating everything in their way.

Miami Marlins 2  Philadelphia Phillies 4: The Marlins scored twice in the first inning, but went cold after that. Jeremy Hellickson allowed five hits altogether in six innings and the relief unit did a good job of giving up only one hit in the final three innings. Tyler Goeddel hit a home run to cap off the Phillies winning run.

Chicago Cubs 2  Milwaukee Brewers 1: In a game that went to extra innings, Travis Wood didn’t just pick up the win for his inning on the mound, but he got the RBI that won the game, walking with the bases loaded.

Minnesota Twins 3  Detroit Tigers 6: An impressive day on the mound for Justin Verlander, striking out 10 in 7.1 innings. Ian Kinsler stood out with a home run and an RBI single.

Boston Red Sox 2  Kansas City Royals 3: Some good news for the struggling Royals, who got nine k’s out of Ian Kennedy, while a Lorenzo Cain sacrifice fly in the sixth inning got them the win, breaking the tie from before.

Boston Red Sox 5  Kansas City Royals 2: David Price had another fine start in the second part of the double header, while home runs from Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley Jr. did the work on offense.

Texas Rangers 1  Oakland Athletics 8: Rich Hill held the Rangers to just three hits in his six innings, Khris Davis hit his 12th home run of the season, and Marcus Semien had two RBIs off of two scoring singles.

Washington Nationals 7  New York Mets 1: Bartolo Colon and the rest of the Mets pitchers struggled, walking the Nationals 11 times. Gio Gonzalez had a good day on the mound for the Nationals, Daniel Murphy and Wilson Ramos had two RBIs each.

Seattle Mariners 2  Baltimore Orioles 5: The game started with back to back home runs from Mike Trumbo and Matt Wieters. The Mariners tied the game at 2-2, but more offense from Wieters started another scoring streak that gave the Orioles the win.

Atlanta Braves 3  Pittsburgh Pirates 1: Julio Teheran gets his first positive decision of the season, allowing five hits in 7.2 innings. Tyler Flowers hit his first home run of the season, as the Pirates were held to just six hits all game long.

Tampa Bay Rays 6  Toronto Blue Jays 3: Logan Morrison had three hits, one for an RBI, and also reached home plate thanks to a Kevin Kiermaier two-run homer.

Cleveland Indians 8  Cincinnati Reds 7: A home run by Rajai Davis sent the game into extra innings, where a home run by Francisco Lindor finished the job, while Dan Otero picked up the save for his work in the 12th inning.

Houston Astros 5  Chicago White Sox 3: The White Sox drop their fourth game in a row, giving up home runs to Colby Rasmus and Jason Castro, while Jose Altuve finished with three hits and two RBIs.

Colorado Rockies 0  St. Louis Cardinals 2: Adam Wainwright shuts out the Rockies while Trevor Rosenthal closed the deal. A Matt Holliday double in the third inning did the work.

New York Yankees 4  Arizona Diamondbacks 2: Nathan Eovaldi struck out “only” five in his performance, but retired 18 batters in a row, giving up just one hit in six innings. Brett Gardner hit a two-run homer, Jacoby Ellsbury drove in a run two, and also scored later on a wild pitch.

Los Angeles Dodgers 1  Los Angeles Angels 8: Nick Tropeano looked good in seven innings, but offense was all about Mike Trout kicking things off with a home run, followed by a whole lot of hitting, including two RBIs for C.J. Cron and Rafael Ortega.

San Francisco Giants 2  San Diego Padres 1: The Giants remain scorching hot with a seventh win in a row. Johnny Cueto had a complete game, allowing only four hits and one run while striking out eight. A two run homer by Hunter Pence in the second won them the game.
