The Chicago Cubs look good against the Philadelphia Phillies while the Boston Red Sox drop their second in a row. The Pittsburgh Pirates extend the longest winning streak in baseball against the Texas Rangers, while the Milwaukee Brewers also seem to be quite hot right now, although it’s not that big of a deal when they do it against the Cincinnati Reds.
St. Louis Cardinals 6 Â Washington Nationals 2:Â Jaime Garcia did well on the mound for the Cardinals, Stephen Piscotty made the difference overall with a grand slam home run. Greg Garcia also hit a home run.
Boston Red Sox 5 Â Toronto Blue Jays 7:Â The Red Sox climbed back from behind to tie the game in 8th at five runs a piece, but a two run homer by Josh Donaldson, who opened the game with a home run too, gave the Blue Jays the win.
Los Angeles Dodgers 5 Â New York Mets 6:Â Jacob DeGrom had a fine start, giving up only three hits in seven innings, but the win went to Jeurys Familia, who didn’t do a very good job. Luckily for him, Curtis Granderson hit a walk off home run to cancel out the four-run inning the Dodgers had in the ninth.
Baltimore Orioles 6 Â Cleveland Indians 4:Â With the game tied at 3-3 in the 7th inning, Chris Davis hit a double that scored Manny Machado, followed by a home run from Mike Trumbo, scoring Davis as well.
New York Yankees 4 Â Tampa Bay Rays 1:Â After losing two in a row, the Yankees move back up against the worst in the division. Masahiro Tanaka improved to 3-0 with strong seven innings and only two hits allowed. Alex Rodriguez had two RBIs thanks to his home run, Carlos Beltran belted one out too.
Miami Marlins 2 Â Atlanta Braves 4:Â The Braves finally win one, coming back from two runs down thanks to Tyler Flowers, Jeff Francoeur and Nick Markakis.
Philadelphia Phillies 2 Â Chicago Cubs 6:Â Jon Lester struck out seven in 6.1 innings, getting impressive home run support from Kris Bryant (11 this season), Jorge Soler and David Ross with a three-run blast.
Pittsburgh Pirates 9 Â Texas Rangers 1:Â The Pirates stop Cole Hamels, who was on a 12-game win streak, while Jonathon Niese improved to 5-2, mostly thanks to the offense. Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen, Gregory Polanco and Jung Ho Kang hit home runs, with Polanco getting to 31 RBIs this season.
Cincinnati Reds 5 Â Milwaukee Brewers 9:Â Aaron Hill hit a couple of home runs and Jonathan Lucroy blasted his 7th of the season, as the Brewers, unlike the Reds, remain respectable thanks to a talented offense.
Chicago White Sox 5 Â Kansas City Royals 7:Â The White Sox had a 5-1 lead thanks to a Melky Cabrera grand slam home run and Todd Frazier hitting one deep too. Eric Hosmer’s homer began a six-run rally for the Royals, taking the lead with a Hosmer RBI single.
San Francisco Giants 2 Â Colorado Rockies 5:Â Tyler Chatwood gave up only four hits in seven innings without walking anyone, while Matt Cain didn’t make it out of the second inning due to an injury. No home runs this time from the Rockies, simply doubles that scored, with Trevor Story finishing with two RBIs.
San Diego Padres 10  Arizona Diamondbacks 3: A big hitting day for the Padres while Christian Friedrich posted a nice win, striking out five in seven innings. Yangervis Solarte hit two home runs, Matt Kemp hit number 11 this season and Derek Norris blasted one too.
Houston Astros 2 Â Los Angeles Angels 7:Â Matt Shoemaker struck out 11 in 8.1 innings, Albert Pujols hit his 10th home run of the season, scoring two on the occasion, and Mike Trout had a 3-RBI double.
Detroit Tigers 4 Â Oakland Athletics 1:Â Michael Fulmer shutout the A’s in 7.2 innings, giving up just three hits and one walk. Nick Castellanos made it to 10 home runs this season, J.D. Martinez had a triple that scored Ian Kinsler.
Minnesota Twins 7 Â Seattle Mariners 2:Â It’s always surprising to see the Twins win, as Pat Dean struck out eight in seven innings. Joe Mauer hit a home run and so did Miguel Sano, for the team tied with the Braves at the bottom of major league baseball.
