Not a whole lot of memes coming out of game 1 in the Stanley Cup Finals, as we’re still waiting for storylines to develop in the series between the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins.
One thing is for sure: Most people are rooting for the Sharks, making their first appearance in the finals, to beat the Penguins, or as some light to call them, Team Crosby. Yes, the Penguins are one of those bandwagon teams that have a lot of fair weather fans taking their side. But the Sharks, just by being their rivals, are in the same spot.
So why are many people picking the Sharks to win the series? Simply out of hate for the Penguins, or is it actually thinking San Jose has the better team? Or maybe even the logo having something to do with it? Hard to say.
In any case, the Penguins have home ice, and they’ve protected it in game 1, which had plenty of goals, but also a lot of busted knees, heads and dirty hits for the NHL to deal with. As it should be, as long as no one actually gets seriously hurt.
