Victor Martinez

An impressive win by the Baltimore Orioles over the Boston Red Sox gives them the lead of the AL East again, while the Washington Nationals keep going strong with a home-run hitting clinic in San Diego, although the most impressive of big hits performances came from the Detroit Tigers against the Kansas City Royals, including three home runs by Victor Martinez.

Cincinnati Reds 2  Atlanta Braves 7: Freddie Freeman had another great day at the plate with a two-run homer and three hits overall, backed by Matt Wisler, striking out 5 in 6.2 innings of play to pick up the win.

Seattle Mariners 6  Tampa Bay Rays 4: The Mariners finally slow down the losing, with 3 RBIs from Dae Ho Lee and Kyle Seager hitting home run number 13 this season. James Paxton got the win despite giving up three runs in six innings, striking out 5 in the process.

Texas Rangers 5  Oakland Athletics 1: The Rangers win for the third consecutive time, as Ian Desmond hits home run number 10 this season, and Colby Lewis has a gem of a day on the mound, allowing only two hits in nine innings, improving to 6-0 this season.

Toronto Blue Jays 13  Philadelphia Phillies 2: A bruisin performance by the Blue Jays, as J.A. Happ didn’t need to be at his best with this kind of run support. Kevin Pillar hit two home runs, Edwin Encarnacion kept his hot streak going with number 18 of the season, and Michael Saunders got in on the long ball action as well.

Baltimore Orioles 5  Boston Red Sox 1: A two-run homer by Adam Jones kicked things off the right way for Baltimore, who also got a nice performance from Tyler Wilson, shutting out Boston in his 8 innings, allowing only 3 hits.

Pittsburgh Pirates 4  New York Mets 6: Another loss for the Pirates, struggling with their starting pitching. Bartolo Colon got nice support from Curtis Granderson, Michael Conforto and Neil Walker, all hitting home runs.

New York Yankees 4  Minnesota Twins 1: The game was tied at 1-1 in the 7th inning, until Didi Gregorius hit a three-run homer, giving the bullpen trio of Betances, Miller and Chapman the chance to once again show how unhittable they are.

Detroit Tigers 10  Kansas City Royals 4: The Royals get beaten up after five consecutive wins, in a home run barrage from the Tigers. Victor Martinez bombed three solo shots, Nick Castellanos, James McCann, and Miguel Cabrera hit homers as well.

Milwaukee Brewers 8  Los Angeles Dodgers 6: A very rough day for Scott Kazmir, but the loss went to Pedro Baez, after a 6-6 game went the Brewers way thanks to Jonathan Villar hitting a two-run homer off of him in the 9th. Jeremy Jeffress closed out the game (19th save), with Chris Carter adding home run number 18 this season, and Aaron Hill belting one too.

Washington Nationals 8  San Diego Padres 5: Bryce Harper, Wilson Ramos and Anthony Rendon stood out with home runs, as the Nats take their momentum from winning two of three against the Cubs to Southern California and don’t let it slip away.
