The Chicago Cubs got back in business thanks to young Willie Contreras, the Cleveland Indians went wild with triples and the Houston Astros, another red hot team, destroyed the Kansas City Royals, including with a grand slam home run by George Springer.

Tampa Bay Rays 3  Baltimore Orioles 6: The Rays kicked things off with three runs in the first, but the Orioles responded with a J.J. Hardy single and mostly solo home runs from Adam Jones and Manny Machado.

Minnesota Twins 3  New York Yankees 5: The Twins made three errors to help the Yankees get back to .500, with a Rob Refsnyder giving them the lead and a Aaron Hicks home run cementing the win, while Aroldis Chapman picked up save number 14 of the season with 3 k’s in the ninth.

Los Angeles Dodgers 6  Pittsburgh Pirates 8: A solo home run from Matt Joyce helped the Pirates get enough of an edge to seal the win against the Dodgers, backed up by some strong relief work from Neftali Feliz and Mark Melancon.

Cleveland Indians 7  Detroit Tigers 4: The Indians hit four triples in the win, including two by Jason Kipnis, who finished with 3 RBIs. Danny Salazar improved to 9-3 this season, despite not completing six innings.

San Diego Padres 13  Cincinnati Reds 4: A big day for Wil Myers with 5 RBIs and one home run. Melvin Upton Jr. hit a couple of home runs himself, improving to 11 this season.

New York Mets 8  Atlanta Braves 6: Despite Steven Matz falling apart in the 5th to help the Braves cut down a 8-run lead into just two, the Mets got what they needed from the bullpen, making James Loney and Travis d’Arnaud’s effort worth it.

Chicago Cubs 5  Miami Marlins 4: The Cubs keep enjoying Wilson Contreras’ introduction to the major leagues, with a 7th inning single from him stopping their longest winning streak of the season, improving to .412 this season, which came as a finale to previously hitting a two-run homer.

Boston Red Sox 8  Texas Rangers 7: An impressive win for the Red Sox over the best team in the AL, with four runs in the ninth inning to complete an impressive comeback, getting the finishing touch from Dustin Pedroia.

Toronto Blue Jays 2  Chicago White Sox 3: Melky Cabrera got in a home run to put the White Sox up by one run, and Todd Frazier’s single gave them the win.

Washington Nationals 3  Milwaukee Brewers 5: The Nationals keep losing, dropping their 6th consecutive game (worst losing streak in the National League). Their 3-2 lead was erased by a home run from Keon Broxton, and the loss delivered by Kirk Nieuwenhuis hitting a two-run homer.

Houston Astros 13  Kansas City Royals 4: George Springer hit a grand slam home run and Colby Rasmus hit one deep as well as the Astros won their sixth consecutive game.

Arizona Diamondbacks 10  Colorado Rockies 9: With the game going the Rockies way heading into the ninth, a home run from Yasmany Tomas (two on the day) and a single by Michael Bourn snatched the win away from Colorado.

Oakland Athletics 7  Los Angeles Angels 4: Another comeback win, completed when Khris Davis hit a three-run homer in the 8th, giving the A’s rare consecutive wins this season.

St. Louis Cardinals 3  Seattle Mariners 4: The Cards had a three-run lead going into the ninth, but Adam Lind gave Seattle the Walk-off win with a three-run homer, giving Donn Roach the win.

Philadelphia Phillies 4  San Francisco Giants 5: Jake Peavy does well enough in 7 innings to by the Giants time, while a Brandon Belt double scored three in the 7th to do most of the damage against Elvis Araujo, letting a lead slip away, as well as the game.
