A busy Saturday went the way of the Baltimore Orioles, winning their double header against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Texas Rangers got the best of the Boston Red Sox, while both the Houston Astros and Cleveland Indians kept their major-league best winning streaks going on.

Chicago Cubs 6  Miami Marlins 9: The poor form of the Cubs continues, with John Lackey not completing five innings. A 4-1 lead by the Cubs went to waste with a strong fifth from the Marlins, who got back in the game thanks to a two-run homer by Justin Bour. Giancarlo Stanton had 3 RBIs, and Paul Clemens picked up his first win this season.

Minnesota Twins 1  New York Yankees 2: The Yankees win their third in a row to move about .500, as their terrific bullpen trio delivers four strikes, Andrew Miller getting the win (5-0, 1.10 ERA) and Aroldis Chapman getting the save. A ground out by Starlin Castro in the 8th took the Yankees into the lead.

Tampa Bay Rays 0  Baltimore Orioles 5: Kevin Gausman did a terrific job for 7.2 innings, including 7 k’s, to pick up his first win this season. Offense did the rest, including two RBIs for Pedro Alvarez.

Tampa Bay Rays 6  Baltimore Orioles 8: The Doubleheader sunk the Rays even lower, now losing 10 in a row. The Orioles hit four home runs, including two by Matt Wieters, and number 17 this season for Chris Davis.

Toronto Blue Jays 10  Chicago White Sox 8: The White Sox hit 7 solo home runs in the game, including twice by Brett Lawrie. But in the ninth, Edwin Encarnacion and Troy Tulowitzki got their bats hot to open up a three-run lead, enough to avoid a collapse.

Cleveland Indians 6  Detroit Tigers 0: Are the Indians the best in the majors? With 8 straight wins, who knows? Carlos Carrasco shut out the Tigers in nine innings of work, allowing only four hits. Carlos Santana hit a home run, so did Yan Gomes. Francisco Lindor outdid them with a couple.

Washington Nationals 5  Milwaukee Brewers 6: The Nats lose for the 7th straight time, trailing right from the start after Chris Carter hit a three-run homer. Jonathan Villar had three hits on the day and one RBI to show for it.

San Diego Padres 3  Cincinnati Reds 0: Drew Pomeranz paved the way with strong seven innings on the mound, and his home run in the 5th gave the Padres a two run lead. He added an RBI single in the 7th to cap off a very special day.

Arizona Diamondbacks 6  Colorado Rockies 11: Tony Wolters hit his first major league home run, turning out to be a two-run homer, as the Rockies almost lead a six run lead evaporate until getting hot again in the 8th, finishing things off with a three-run homer by DJ LeMahieu.

Houston Astros 13  Kansas City Royals 5: The Astros score 13 on the Royals once again, this time with Jose Altuve getting four hits and three RBIs, including a home run. Carlos Correa also hit a home run, his 12th this season.

New York Mets 1  Atlanta Braves 0: A nice pitching duel for a change, going into the 11th inning, when a Kelly Johnson home run broke the deadlock. Jeurys Familia closed things, although it almost got complicated during his show.

Los Angeles Dodgers 1  Pittsburgh Pirates 6: A great day for Andrew McCutchen, hitting two home runs and finishing with four RBIs. On the mound, Jeff Locke allowed five hits in 7 innings to get the win.

Boston Red Sox 3  Texas Rangers 10: The Rangers shellshocked Steven Wright, as Ian Desmond hit his 13th home run of the season, and both Elvis Andrus and Mitch Moreland picked up three RBIs.

Oakland Athletics 7  Los Angeles Angels 3: The Angels scored three solo home runs, including number 574 for Albert Pujols. However, it wasn’t nearly enough, with Danny Valencia hitting a two-run shot and Coco Crisp getting three hits and two RBIs.

Philadelphia Phillies 3  San Francisco Giants 2: Madison Bumgarner was doing great until the seventh, when the game slipped away from him: An Andres Blanco single to center got the Phillies on the board, followed by Cameron Rupp hitting a two-run homer to win the game.

St. Louis Cardinals 3  Seattle Mariners 5: The Mariners scored five runs in two innings, and it was enough. It started with a Dea Ho Lee single scoring two runners, followed by RBIs from Nelson Cruz, Adam Lind and Kyle Seager.
