Ben Zobrist

The Cleveland Indians can’t stop winning, making it to 11 in a row, as seven of the top 8 teams in baseball won their games. The Chicago Cubs keep having fun in Cincinnati, and the Texas Rangers remain the best in the American League with another impressive display in the Bronx.

Texas Rangers 7  New York Yankees 1: Cole Hamels struck out 7 in 7, while Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer and Prince Fielder and Rougned Odor added an RBI each, making it a 4th straight win for the Rangers.

New York Mets 0  Washington Nationals 5: Lucas Giolito had a pretty good debut shortened by the rain, but that didn’t stop the Nats from shutting out the Mets. Bryce Harper stood out with a two-run homer, his 16th long ball of the season.

Miami Marlins 5  Detroit Tigers 7: A great start by Giancarlo Stanton with a home run and three RBIs wasn’t enough, as the Tigers homered three times in the fifth to score 7 runs: Jose Iglesis, Miguel Cabrera and Nick Castellanos bringing the pain.

Chicago Cubs 7  Cincinnati Reds 2: The Cubs continue to regain their mojo in Ohio, but needed 15 innings to do so. They played three relievers in left field, and eventually got an RBI single from Ben Zobrist to break the deadlock (Zobrist opened the game with a home run), followed by a grand slam homer by Javier Baez. Travis Wood was able to close well, striking out 2.

Cleveland Indians 5  Atlanta Braves 3: The Indians continue to scorch their way to 11 straight wins, with Corey Kluber striking out 7 and allowing only 3 this, as the Indians broke the tie in the 9th before Cody Allen picked up his 15th save of the season.

Boston Red Sox 8  Tampa Bay Rays 2: After a rough week, the Red Sox get back on the winning train again. Rick Porcello struck out 8 in six innings, Travis Shaw hit a home run to complete a five-RBI performance, twice scoring two players off a double and a single.

Minnesota Twins 4  Chicago White Sox 0: Brian Dozier hit a couple of home runs, while Kyle Gibson shutting out the White Sox in his seven innings, striking out 7, and getting his first win of the season.

Los Angeles Dodgers 6  Milwaukee Brewers 5: Julio Urias gets his first career win (he’s only 19), walking six but also striking out the same amount. He got help from Yasmani Grandal with two RBIs (despite going 0-for-5), both by grounding out.

St. Louis Cardinals 8  Kansas City Royals 4: Michael Wacha wasn’t great in his start, but picked up a win thanks to the offense, with Matt Carpenter hitting his 14th home run of the season, as a dominant 5th and 6th inning stretch helped the Cards bust open the game.

Toronto Blue Jays 14  Colorado Rockies 9: A total of 32 hits between the two teams, including home runs for Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez. Josh Donaldson had the most meaningful at-bat for the Blue Jays, hitting a triple that scored three, giving them the lead early on, which they wouldn’t let slip away.

Philadelphia Phillies 4  Arizona Diamondbacks 3: The D-Backs held a 3-2 lead heading into the 9th, but Brad Ziegler blew the save, giving up a single to Andres Blanco which tied the game, and walked Ryan Howard with the bases loaded.

Houston Astros 7  Los Angeles Angels 1: Tim Lincecum looked bad in less than five innings of work, with a big day for Carlos Correa, hitting a three-run homer and finishing with four RBIs.

Pittsburgh Pirates 2  Seattle Mariners 5: The Mariners built a 5-0 lead that didn’t evaporate, including the 20th home run this season for Nelson Cruz.

Baltimore Orioles 11  San Diego Padres 7: The Orioles got 17 hits off of the Padres, with home runs for Adam Jones, Chris Davis (19 this season) and Hyun Soo Kim.

Oakland Athletics 13  San Francisco Giants 11: The A’s turned 12 hits into 13 runs, none more important than Jake Smolinski pinch hitting the team into the lead with a three-run homer in the 8th. Earlier on Khris Davis hit his 19th home run of the season.
