The NL & AL leaders both lost to teams from New York by one run: The Chicago Cubs fall to the Mets, the Texas Rangers to the Yankees. Meanwhile, the San Francisco Giants get back on the horse with some impressive offense, and a strikeout show from Carlos Carrasco paved the way for the Cleveland Indians 13th consecutive win.
Texas Rangers 1 Â New York Yankees 2:Â Another walk-off win for the Yankees, this time thanks to Chase Headley, scoring on a passed ball, putting the team back at .500.
Minnesota Twins 5 Â Chicago White Sox 6:Â A strong day for J.B. Shuck ended with an RBI single in the 8th that won the game for the White Sox, not letting the impressive hitting day for Eduardo Nunez and Brian Dozier get in the way.
Los Angeles Dodgers 8 Â Milwaukee Brewers 1:Â The Dodgers stop the losing with home runs from Trayce Thompson, Yasmani Grandal and Corey Seager, while Kenta Maeda does a fantastic job on the mound, giving up only three hits in six innings.
Cincinnati Reds 4 Â Washington Nationals 13:Â No problem for the Nats against the worst team in Baseball, with a big day for Danny Espinosa. He hit two home runs, including one grand slam. Ryan Zimmerman hit a home run as well.
Cleveland Indians 4 Â Toronto Blue Jays 1:Â The Indians aren’t stopping, winning number 13 in a row, as Carlos Carrasco strikes out 14 in 7 innings, while Rajai Davis and Jason Kipnis deliver the goods on offense with a home run each.
Chicago Cubs 3 Â New York Mets 4:Â The Cubs let a 3-0 lead slip away, with Yoenis Cespedes kicking things off with a huge home run, followed by Brandon Nimmo adding an RBI with a single, and Neil Walker grounding out scoring two, with an error helping the Mets win the game.
Miami Marlins 5 Â Atlanta Braves 8:Â A big rally for the Braves, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to take over the game. Brandon Snyder and Chase d’Arnaud both had two RBIs to lead the team’s offense.
Detroit Tigers 10 Â Tampa Bay Rays 7:Â The Tigers score 8 runs in the ninth inning to win the game, as an Ian Kinsler walk with the bases loaded tying the game, and a double by Cameron Maybin scoring three to win it.
Kansas City Royals 4 Â St. Louis Cardinals 2:Â The Royals allowed only three hits all game, but didn’t really have the game wrapped up until the 8th inning, when Kendrys Morales hit a home run to make it a two-run game.
San Francisco Giants 12 Â Oakland Athletics 6:Â Not a great game for Madison Bumgarner, but good enough for the win. A three-run homer for Buster Posey really made things easier as the Giants got hot, followed by a Brandon Crawford homer to finish the deal, while the rest was just for fun.
Baltimore Orioles 3 Â Seattle Mariners 5:Â A good game for Taijuan Walker to pick up the win, with Seth Smith hitting a two run homer. The Orioles reached 56 home runs in June, the most home runs in baseball ever in a single month (previous record was 55 by the A’s in 1996), but it wasn’t enough.
