The New York Mets complete a four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs, the Toronto Blue Jays go wild on the Cleveland Indians, and the Detroit Tigers extend the longest winning streak in the majors to six games with an impressive performance against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cleveland Indians 1  Toronto Blue Jays 17: When it rains, it really pours. A second straight win for the Blue Jays over Cleveland, as Russell Martin and Troy Tulowitzki both his three-run homers. J.A Happ was fantastic with 11 k’s in 7 innings, overall holding the Indians to five hits.

Chicago Cubs 3  New York Mets 14: Just like the playoffs, the Mets sweep the Cubs. The Mets clobbered Jon Lester who didn’t make it out of the second inning, while Noah Syndergaard struck out 8 in 7 innings, and Wilmer Flores hit two home runs on a 6-for-6 day.

Detroit Tigers 5  Tampa Bay Rays 1: The Rays couldn’t hold on to their lead, and the Tigers turned the game on its head in the 8th and 9th inning, tying it with a Victor Martinez ground out, taking the lead on a Justin Upton two-RBI double, and finishing with a two-run homer by Ian Kinsler, his 16th of the season.

Los Angeles Angels 5  Boston Red Sox 10: Sean O’Sullivan does a good enough job to improve to 2-0 this season in five innings of work, while offense from Sandy Leon (3 RBIs), Dustin Pedroia and Hanley Ramirez (2 RBIs each) did the rest.

Cincinnati Reds 1  Washington Nationals 12: Stephen Strasburg is back, taken out after a 6.2 innings no-hitter performance, striking out 5. The Nationals hit six home runs, including two by Danny Espinsoa and the 17th this season from Bryce Harper.

Kansas City Royals 2  Philadelphia Phillies 7: Vince Velasquez does a good job on the mound with 7 k’s in six innings, while the home runs of Cameron Rupp, Cody Asche and Maikel Franco take care of offensive issues.

Texas Rangers 4  Minnesota Twins 5: Cole Hamels loses for the first time since May, as the hitting of Brian Dozier (stand out for the Twins in this game) was a bit too much for him and the Rangers.

Chicago White Sox 4  Houston Astros 1: Jose Quintana finally stops the losing, allowing only two-hits in seven innings. Jose Abreu had two hits, one of them an RBI single, his 49th of the season.

Milwaukee Brewers 8  St. Louis Cardinals 9: A sixth inning grand slam home run by Stephen Piscotty changed the game completely and made it a lot easier for the Cardinals, doing a good job of staying within distance of the wild card spots.

Pittsburgh Pirates 6  Oakland Athletics 3: A fourth straight win for the Pirates, as Francisco Liriano ends his losing streak despite a so-so performance. David Freese, the Pirates hottest player, hit his 8th home run of the season, scoring two in the 8th to clinch the win.

Baltimore Orioles 4  Seattle Mariners 9: Seth Smith started the game with a Grand Slam home run, and the Orioles never caught up with the Mariners, with Hisashi Iwakuma getting the win despite giving up 10 hits.

Colorado Rockies 1  Los Angeles Dodgers 4: Another win for the Dodgers over the struggling Rockies with some sublime pitching. This time it was Brandon McCarthy with his first win of the season, striking out 8 in 5. Trayce Thompson and Yasmani Grandal hit home runs, while the Rockies were held to just four hits.

San Francisco Giants 5  Arizona Diamondbacks 4: Two home runs from the D-Backs in the 6th and 8th innings took the game into extra innings, when Ramiro Pena did his job on the pinch duty, hitting a double that scored Jarrett Parker and won the game, with Santiago Casilla wrapping things up.

New York Yankees 6  San Diego Padres 3: Mark Teixeira hit two home runs (400 & 401 of his career), Chad Green got the win with 8 k’s, and the Betances-Miller-Chapman trio had another strong performance, striking out 4 in the process.

Miami Marlins 5  Atlanta Braves 2: J.T. Realmuto opened the scoring and closed it for the Marlins, with a home run and a scoring single, while Adam Conley looked good in six innings, not allowing any runs.
