The San Francisco Giants, after another terrific performance by Johnny Cueto, now have the best record in the majors, while the Chicago Cubs lose for a second consecutive time to the Cincinnati Reds.

Detroit Tigers 12  Cleveland Indians 2: Something of a revenge for the previous game, as Nick Castellanos hits a three-run homer and finished with 5 RBIs, while Josh Tomlin loses only his second start of the season for the Indians.

Atlanta Braves 3  Philadelphia Phillies 4: A two run homer from Freddy Galvis turned the game around in the 8th inning and won it for the Phillies, with Jeanmar Gomez providing the closing inning.

Oakland Athletics 0  Minnesota Twins 4: Ervin Santana added a bit to his trade value with a nine-inning performance, allowing only two hits, 0 walks and striking out 8. Only one of the Twins runs was actually scored on a counted hit. The others were a walk and two sacrifice flies.

Miami Marlins 2  New York Mets 4: Giancarlo Stanton keeps hitting home runs, with four on his last four at bats and two in this game, but Wilmer Flores had two home runs of his own, Jose Reyes got two hits and Curtis Granderson, adjusting to his new spot in the lineup, added two RBIs.

Cincinnati Reds 5  Chicago Cubs 3: The Reds drop the Cubs for a second straight game, erasing a 1-3 deficit with a three-run homer by Tucker Barnhart, followed by an RBI single from Adam Duvall to seal the deal.

Baltimore Orioles 6  Los Angeles Dodgers 4: Mark Trumbo hit two home runs, making it to 26 this season, including a sixth-inning solo hit that took the game into extra innings. In the 14th, a Jonathan Schoop double won them the game, and Zach Britton, despite complications, managed to finish the job.

Milwaukee Brewers 4  Washington Nationals 7: The Nats hit three home runs, including a three-run by Bryce Harper and finish the game on a two-run homer by Ryan Zimmerman. Tanner Roark struck out 6 in 7 innings for the win.

Texas Rangers 6  Boston Red Sox 11: The Rangers and Red Sox keep trading wins, this time the hitting of David Ortiz (20th home run this season) and surprisingly Bryce Brentz (3 RBIs) were too much for the visitors.

Kansas City Royals 2  Toronto Blue Jays 4: The Royals fall to fourth in the AL Central, losing four in a row. Ian Kennedy actually did a good job with 10 strikeouts in six innings, the job was botched later on, allowing Michael Saunders and Russell Martin to hit tie breaking and game winning RBIs in the 8th.

Los Angeles Angels 7  Tampa Bay Rays 2: Mike Trout hit his 18th home runs of the season and finishes with two RBIs, as the Angels led 7-0 before the Rays got anything on the board. Jered Weaver is back at .500 (7-7) after striking out 5 in six innings.

New York Yankees 0  Chicago White Sox 5: The White Sox shutout the Yankees again, with Miguel Gonzalez going 7 innings. Tim Anderson stood out with two RBIs off of his double in the second inning.

Seattle Mariners 8  Houston Astros 9: The Astros are now 6.5 games behind the Rangers, and three games ahead of the Mariners. Strong start from Houston, Mariners chipping back, until Seth Smith hit a three-run homer to tie it in the 7th. Carlos Valbuena hit a two-run homer in the 8th, and Robinson Cano’s RBI double was the best the Mariners had in response. Not enough.

Pittsburgh Pirates 7  St. Louis Cardinals 5: David Freese continues his fantastic form, hitting his third home run in 7 games, while Sean Rodriguez joins the fun, as the Pirates closed the game with six consecutive runs to take 2nd place in the NL Central.

San Diego Padres 13  Arizona Diamondbacks 6: Despite scoring four runs to start the game, the Diamondbacks fell apart, allowing 13 in a row, including two home runs for Ryan Schimpf and a three-run homer for Yangervis Solarte.

Colorado Rockies 1  San Francisco Giants 5: Buster Posey hit a nice momentum shifting home run in the sixth, helping Johnny Cueto, with another complete game, pick up win number 13 this season (13-1, 2.47 ERA).
