A bad day for some of the best teams in Baseball, as the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers and Cleveland Indians all extend their losing streaks, while while the Toronto Blue Jays keep going strong, winning their sixth game in a row, this time beating the Detroit Tigers.

Los Angeles Angels 5  Tampa Bay Rays 1: The Angels win their third in a row, with Hector Santiago striking out nine batters in a 7-inning performance, allowing only three hits. C.J. Cron finished with two RBIs in a fantastic stretch for him.

Pittsburgh Pirates 1  St. Louis Cardinals 5: Adam Wainwright looked good in 7 innings of work with 9 k’s, getting offensive support from Randal Grichuk with a home run and Stephen Piscotty with a three-run homer.

Detroit Tigers 4  Toronto Blue Jays 5: A sixth consecutive win for the Blue Jays, with Troy Tulowitzki getting 3 RBIs in the 7th and 8th innings to take his team out of a two-run hole and win the game.

New York Yankees 5  Cleveland Indians 4: A surprising win for the Yankees, not falling apart after two early Indians home runs. Didi Gregorius kicked things off with a home run of his own, followed by a Brett Gardner RBI levelling the score, and Chase Headley giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead, which they held on to.

Washington Nationals 7  New York Mets 9: The Nats had a 4-1 lead and later a 6-4 lead, but in a day of home runs for the Mets (Wilmer Flores stands out with a three-run homer), it wasn’t enough.

Atlanta Braves 4  Chicago Cubs 3: The slide for the Cubs continues, this time giving up two home runs to Nick Markakis and then a game winning RBI single in the 11th inning. Jason Hammel left the game with cramps in his hand.

Minnesota Twins 10  Texas Rangers 1: The Twins are on a three-game winning streak, with home runs from Kurt Suzuki, Max Kepler and Kennys Vargas complementing Tyler Duffey and his 9 strike performance.

Oakland Athletics 3  Houston Astros 1: A great game by Rich Hill, striking out 10 while giving up only 3 hits and one run in six innings of work. The A’s had only four hits the entire game, with two RBIs going to Yonder Alonso.

Seattle Mariners 3  Kansas City Royals 4: The losing stops for the Royals, as Steve Cishek blows the lead by giving up a walk off double to Salvador Perez, which looked improbable after Nelson Cruz hit a home run to give the Mariners a 3-0 lead in the 8th.

Philadelphia Phillies 2  Colorado Rockies 11: When the Rockies get their big bats going, it’s very difficult to keep up. Trevor Story carried on with his fantastic rookie season, hitting two home runs to make it to 21, enjoying help from Mark Reynolds with a home run of his own. Both of them finished with 4 RBIs.

San Diego Padres 6  Los Angeles Dodgers 0: A strong showing from Drew Pomeranz, holding the Dodgers to two hits while striking out 6. A rough return for Hyun Jin Ryu, while Melvin Upton Jr. hit his 14th home run of the season.
