The San Francisco Giants don’t mind a slow start to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks with a big Brandon Crawford day, the Texas Rangers narrowly escape losing to the Minnesota Twins, while the Chicago Cubs lose their fourth game in a row, this time to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Los Angeles Angels 9  Baltimore Orioles 5: The Angels have won four in a row, but bad news had to come, as C.J. Cron fractured his left arm after another strong hitting performance, including two RBIs. They led 9-2 before the O’s got some runs to make it look closer.

Detroit Tigers 0  Toronto Blue Jays 6: J.A. Happ struck out 9 in 5.2 innings for the shutout win, Edwin Encarnacion did the most damage with a three-run homer, his 23rd of the season.

Tampa Bay Rays 5  Boston Red Sox 6: The Red Sox kept building leads, the Rays kept coming back, until Bryce Brent and Aaron Hill both hit RBI singles in the 6th and 8th innings, this time proving too much for the Rays to catch up with.

New York Yankees 2  Cleveland Indians 10: The Indians hit five home runs in their route of the Yankees, including two by Jason Kipnis, but none were more impressive than Mike Napoli hitting a 462 feet dinger, with one player on base.

Washington Nationals 3  New York Mets 1: Stephen Strasburg struck out nine, allowed two hits and one run in 7 innings, improving to 12-0 this season, while Clint Robinson made the difference on offense with a two-run homer.

Cincinnati Reds 1  Miami Marlins 3: Jose Fernandez produces another strong performance with 8 strikeouts in 7 innings, improving to 11-4 this season. Christian Yelich had the Marlins only home run of the game.

Chicago Cubs 4  Pittsburgh Pirates 8: Another game, another loss for the Cubs, who still have a huge (7.5 games) lead in the NL Central, but are falling apart at the seams. Jake Arrieta lost again, David Freese and Sean Rodrigues get home runs.

Minnesota Twins 5  Texas Rangers 6: A rough day for Cole Hamels didn’t stop the Rangers from winning, scoring twice in the 6th to come from behind and take the lead for good in the game, thanks to a Bobby Wilson sacrifice fly.

Atlanta Braves 11  Chicago White Sox 8: Freddie Freeman, Nick Markakis and Tyler Flowers hit home runs for the Braves, while the White Sox have a triple play to be proud of, although little good did it do them.

St. Louis Cardinals 3  Milwaukee Brewers 4: Jonathan Villar his a single to left in the 9th, giving the Brewers a walk off win over their division rivals, helping the Pirates gain a bit of distance on them.

Oakland Athletics 9  Houston Astros 10: Another walk-off win situation, this time thanks to a home run by Carlos Valbuena, scoring three, helping the Astros make the dramatic comeback from being two runs down entering the ninth inning.

Philadelphia Phillies 5  Colorado Rockies 3: Trevor Story gets two RBIs, twice helping Carlos Gonzalez reach home, but a three run homer by Tommy Joseph made most of the difference in favor of the Phillies.

Seattle Mariners 3  Kansas City Royals 2: The Mariners stop a losing streak, the Royals go back to their problems, with a sacrifice fly, bad pitches and an error helping the Mariners win the game, on the shoulders of some good pitching from Hisashi Iwakuma and Steve Cishek.

San Diego Padres 6  Los Angeles Dodgers 10: The Dodgers live off of five home runs by their players, including three by Yasmani Grandal, only the third Dodgers catcher along with Mike Piazza and Roy Campanella to achieve this feat.

Arizona Diamondbacks 2  San Francisco Giants 6: Right now, the Giants are the best team in Baseball (according to their record), erasing the D-Backs 2 run lead from the first inning. Brandon Crawford hit a two run homer and an RBI single, Jeff Samardzija got the win (9-5, 3.91 ERA) with six strikeouts in 6.1 innings.
