The Las Vegas Summer League is now at the semifinal stage, with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers making their way to the final four, behind impressive performances by Tyus Jones, Tyler Ulis, Bobby Portis and Jordan McRae, giving us a way to feed our hunger for NBA while the league is on vacation.
Minnesota Timberwolves 81 Toronto Raptors 79: Sometimes the result is all that matters in these Summer League games, especially when the Toronto Raptors get robbed with a bogus call with 1.1 seconds remaining and the game tied, allowing the Timberwolves to poach the win.
As for playing well, Xavier Silas finished with 22 for the Timberwolves, Tyus Jones has another strong performance with 21 and Adreian Payne scored 19 to go with 10 rebounds. Norman Powell led the Raptors with 17 points.
Phoenix Suns 82 Denver Nuggets 81: The Suns will meet Minnesota in the semifinal, led by Troy Williams with 22 points, while Tyler Ulis helped out scoring 19. Kyle Kuric and Alan Williams each had 11 in the overtime win, while the Nuggets were led by Jamal Murray with 29 points, and Jimmer Fredette helped out with 16 points.
Washington Wizards 85 Chicago Bulls 88: Bobby Portis leads the Bulls into the semifinal with 17 points and 9 rebounds, helped out by Denzel Valentine, scoring 14 to go with 10 boards, and Jerian Grant with 8 assists. The Wizards weren’t led by Kelly Oubre Jr. for a change, instead turning to Jarell Eddie who scored 22 points.
Cleveland Cavaliers 91 Brooklyn Nets 83: The Cavs win in overtime, once again leaning on Jordan McRae, who scored 25 points on 7-for-25 from the field. The Nets got 25 points from Sean Kilpatrick, but he was only 1-for-9 from beyond the arc.
