The San Diego Padres upset the San Francisco Giants for a second straight game, this time in more dramatic fashion. The Chicago Cubs are picking up steam as they beat the Texas Rangers again, but no one his hotter than the Washington Nationals, beating up the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates.

Texas Rangers 1  Chicago Cubs 3: Yu Darvish made a good return (9 k’s, allowed 2 hits), but still picked up the loss against the heating up Cubs. Jason Hammel struck out 7 while allowing just 3 hits in a strong start, while the offense of Anthony Rizzo and for a second straight game, Matt Szczur, provided the sufficient fireworks to win a third in a row.

Boston Red Sox 5  New York Yankees 2: The Red Sox continue dominating against a mediocre (at best) Yankees team, roughing up C.C. Sabathia, especially Sandy Leon with a couple of hits and four RBIs, one of them a three-run homer.

Toronto Blue Jays 4  Oakland Athletics 5: Khris Davis is scorching, evident by his two home runs to make it 22 this season. Ryon Healy had a good day too, hitting a three run homer, while Sonny Gray made it with a win despite striking out just two in six innings.

Houston Astros 0  Seattle Mariners 1: Great work from Hisashi Iwakuma, striking out 8 in 7 innings, improving to 10-6 this season, shutting out the Astros, with only four hits the entire game. Robinson Cano hit the Mariners only RBI, his 59th of the season.

Baltimore Orioles 2  Tampa Bay Rays 1: Chris Tillman improved to 13-2 as he gave up just four hits and one run, relying on J.J. Hardy hitting a two-run homer to win the game.

New York Mets 2  Philadelphia Phillies 4: A bad season from Ryan Howard isn’t preventing him from shining here and there, including his 13th home run of the season. The Phillies dropped the lead, but got it back thanks to an RBI single by Maikel Franco.

Kansas City Royals 8  Detroit Tigers 4: The Royals scored four runs in the 1st inning, and never looked back. Danny Duffy looked good in 6.1 innings of work, including 7 strikeouts, while Eric Hosmer, capping off a three-run inning in the 5th, reached 50 RBIs this season.

Cleveland Indians 4  Minnesota Twins 5: Any loss to the Twins is slightly shocking this year. The game got to the 11th inning, when an error by Yan Gomes allowed Joe Mauer to score.

Colorado Rockies 4  Atlanta Braves 3: The Braves had a 3-0 lead heading into the 8th, but two throwing errors in the 8th and 9th allowed Nick Hundley to tie the game, and Trevor Story to win it.

Milwaukee Brewers 9  Cincinnati Reds 1: The Reds were awful all game long, the Brewers were red hot all the time. Jimmy Nelson didn’t allow any runs in his 7 innings of work, including 7 k’s, while Jonathan Lucroy stood out with a two-run homer, his 12th of the season.

Miami Marlins 0  St. Louis Cardinals 5: Adam Wainwright throws a complete shutout, allowing only 3 hits while striking out 5. Jhonny Peralta hit a home run, Stephen Piscotty with two hits finished with two RBIs.

Los Angeles Dodgers 1  Arizona Diamondbacks 2: Kenley Jansen blew his fourth lead of the season, as a Jake Lamb double sent the game into extra innings. There, Brandon Drury hit another double, to provide the walk off win in the 12th.

Pittsburgh Pirates 0  Washington Nationals 6: A rough series for the Pirates, while Tanner Roark too hit shutout into the 9th, but didn’t complete the game. Anthony Rendon hit his 10th homer of the season, also getting the first RBI of the game off a single.

San Francisco Giants 6  San Diego Padres 7: Another loss to the Padres, who rally in the 10th to score twice and get the walk off win off of a balk by Santiago Casilla, allowing Derek Norris to score. It was his 5ht blown lead of the season.
