The Chicago Cubs went back to their winning ways against the New York Mets thanks to Jon Lester and Anthony Rizzo, the Miami Marlins won on a extra inning home run by Martin Prado, and Mike Leake was on fire as the St. Louis Cardinals easily handled the San Diego Padres.

Baltimore Orioles 1  New York Yankees 2: Alex Rodriguez hit his 696 career home run (9th this season) to open the scoring in the game. Jonathan Schoop responded with a homer of his own, but a Brian McCann sacrifice fly, and another strong bullpen performance by the Betances, Miller and Chapman trio, kept the win with the Yankees.

Miami Marlins 3  Philadelphia Phillies 2: The Phillies had a 2-0 lead heading into the 9th, but Christian Yelich and Marcell Ozuna sent the game into extra innings, with the game winner coming in the 11th, a solo home run by Martin Prado.

New York Mets 1  Chicago Cubs 5: Things look different after the All-Star break, as Jon Lester allowed just four hits in 7.2 innings of work, and  Anthony Rizzo hit a three-run homer, making it four wins in the last five games for the Cubs.

Minnesota Twins 0  Detroit Tigers 1: Matt Boyd allowed just three hits while striking out 7, as a Justin Upton home run, one of only three hits by the Tigers, was enough for the win.

Atlanta Braves 2  Cincinnati Reds 8: Three home runs by the Reds in the 4th (Joey Votto, Zack Cozart and Eugenio Suarez) did most of the damage, in the battle of the two worst teams in the National League.

Cleveland Indians 3  Kansas City Royals 7: The Royals got it finally going in the 8th inning, scoring 7 runs, four of them coming off of a Jarrod Dyson grand slam home run, ruining another strong performance for Corey Kluber.

San Diego Padres 2  St. Louis Cardinals 10: Mike Leake strikes out 11 without walking anyone, all the while Randal Grichuk, Jedd Gyorko and Stephen Piscotty took care of the offense with home runs.

Tampa Bay Rays 4  Colorado Rockies 7: A two-run homer from Trevor Story (22nd of the season) helped build a 5-1 lead the Rays couldn’t bounce back from, as the Rockies bullpen, especially Jason Motte, did an excellent job of slowing down Tampa.

Texas Rangers 5  Los Angeles Angels 9: The Rangers started out with three home runs and 4-0 lead, but the Angles scored five in a row to take the lead, including a Ji-Man Choi home run, and Mike Trout hitting a three-run homer in the end gave the Angels a nice cushion for the final two innings.

Houston Astros 4  Oakland Athletics 7: A fifth consecutive win for Kendall Graveman, striking out 5 in seven innings, getting the usual help from Khris Davis (23 home runs), and the A’s mostly enjoyed the Astros falling apart in the 4th, allowing two runs on walks with the bases loaded.

Chicago White Sox 3  Seattle Mariners 4: The White Sox had a 3-0 lead heading into the ninth, but Kyle Seager put the Mariners on the board with an RBI single, followed by Adam Lind providing a three-run homer during pinch hitting duty, getting the walk off win. Chris Sale allowed just one hit in his 8 innings of work, but David Robertson blew his third lead of the season, as the White Sox fall to two games under .500.
