The Chicago Cubs retake the top spot in major league baseball with a smooth win over the Milwaukee Brewers, while the San Francisco Giants lose their sixth in a row, blaming Brandon Crawford and his poor fielding for the loss. The St. Louis Cardinals needed Matt Adams for a 16th inning win, the Oakland A’s got Coco Crisp to win it for them in a 13th inning game, with plenty of walk-off hits to go around.

San Francisco Giants 2  New York Yankees 3: A terrible day for Brandon Crawford with three errors, including the one that allowed Chase Headley to score the winning run. Despite blowing the lead, Andre Miller got the win, while Aroldis Chapman kept throwing firebombs, closing the game with a 103 mph pitch.

Cleveland Indians 1  Baltimore Orioles 5: A rough day for the Indians, which began with Mark Trumbo hitting a three run homer and carries on with Manny Machado hitting a solo shot, while the Indians struggled converting their hits into runs.

San Diego Padres 5  Washington Nationals 3: A second straight loss for the Nats, falling to a two-home run game from Matt Kemp, making it to 22 this season. His four RBIs and Luis Perdomo allowing just four hits in 7 innings provided most of the foundation for the Padres win.

Philadelphia Phillies 4  Pittsburgh Pirates 0: Zach Eflin put in quite a performance, allowing only three hits in his nine-inning start, striking out six and shutting out the Pirates. Cameron Rupp finished with three RBIs, including a two run homer in the ninth.

Seattle Mariners 2  Toronto Blue Jays 1: James Paxton delivers a great start with 7 innings and 9 k’s for the win, aided by RBIs from Robinson Cano and Seth Smith.

Minnesota Twins 2  Boston Red Sox 1: Kyle Gibson started and pitched for 8 innings, allowing only two hits (Boston got four overall). A Ryan Dozier home run in the 2nd tied the game, a  Miguel Sano double in the sixth stunned Boston to win the game.

Chicago Cubs 5  Milwaukee Brewers 2: The Cubs continue their resurgence in the post All-Star phase of the season, getting Dexter Fowler back with a home run, and Jason Hammel relying on strong bullpen to pick up the win.

Arizona Diamondbacks 2  Cincinnati Reds 6: The Diamondbacks keep blowing leads, this time 2-0 up before giving up six straight runs, including a three-run homer by Joey Votto, making it to exactly 50 RBIs this season.

New York Mets 5  Miami Marlins 3: A two run homer from James Loney in the 9th inning gave the Marlins a three run lead, too difficult for the Marlins to erase. The red hot Christian Yelich hit his 10th home run of the season for Miami.

Detroit Tigers 7  Chicago White Sox 5: Miguel Cabrera was fantastic, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs, as the Tigers turned the game in the 7th inning, with Cabrera’s two-run single breaking the tie and deciding the fate of the game.

Los Angeles Angels 1  Houston Astros 2: Lance McCullers pitched 8 innings and gave up just four hits while striking out 10, giving Jason Castro and George Springer enough to work with.

Texas Rangers 1  Kansas City Royals 3: Danny Duffy gave up just 4 hits in his 6.2 innings start, while Cheslor Cuthbert stood out in the meager offense from the Royals with a home run, making Rougned Odor’s one later on meaningless.

Los Angeles Dodgers 3  St. Louis Cardinals 4: In a game with 16 innings and two home runs in the ninth, it was a deep ball by Matt Adams in the 16th inning that won the game, a walk off bomb from the first baseman, ending a game that lasted five hours and 10 minutes.

Atlanta Braves 3  Colorado Rockies 4: Jon Gray struck out 8 in his start, as both Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story hit their 24th home runs of the season, enough to counter Jace Peterson hitting a two-run bomb in the 8th inning.

Tampa Bay Rays 0  Oakland Athletics 1: Great starts from Jake Odorizzi and Sean Manaea meant the game entered the 13th inning without any runs, until a Coco Crisp single off of Dylan Floro won the game.
