Things get interesting in the AL East, with the Toronto Blue Jays beating up the Baltimore Orioles and another Boston Red Sox loss. Both the Chicago Cubs and the Washington Nationals lost, and the two hottest teams in the land, the Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers, move on to 5 straight wins.

Seattle Mariners 4  Chicago Cubs 1: Wade Miley helps out the Seahawks by improving his trade value, allowing the Cubs just one hit and one run while striking out 9 through 7 innings, while Leonys Martin hits a two-run double and enjoys an Aroldis Chapman wild pitch to score another run.

Baltimore Orioles 1  Toronto Blue Jays 9: The Orioles lose for the fifth time in a row, and drop to second in the division. The Blue Jays take their place on a J.A. Happ gem, striking out 11 in 7 innings, while Kevin Pillar helped bring in four runners with two hits, and Devon Travis hit his 7th home run of the season.

Washington Nationals 3  San Francisco Giants 5: The Giants have been awful recently, but squeeze a win against the Nationals with very good bullpen work and a strong finish to the game, including a sacrifice fly by Joe Panik to take the lead after starting out 0-3 down.

New York Yankees 3  Tampa Bay Rays 6: The Yankees lose for the third time in a row, while Drew Smyly, ended an 11-game losing streak on the mound. The Rays also hit three home runs, including number 16 this season for Brad Miller.

Oakland Athletics 3  Cleveland Indians 6: The Indians hit four home runs in their win, including number 23 this season for Mike Napoli, helping another runner reach home. Josh Tomlin improved to 11-3, striking out 7 in 7 innings.

Houston Astros 2  Detroit Tigers 3: The Astros took the lead in the 9th inning with Colby Rasmus grounding out to shortstop, but the Tigers responded through James McCann, and a game winner by Jose Iglesias. Justin Verlander through a complete game, striking out 11 batters.

Pittsburgh Pirates 3  Milwaukee Brewers 5: A strong day for Hernan Perez, getting 3 RBIs including a two-run homer, while Chase Anderson picked up the win, striking out 7 batters in 5 innings.

Chicago White Sox 6  Minnesota Twins 5: A Melky Cabrera single in the 9th inning sent the game into extra innings, where Dioner Navarro hit an RBI double off of Fernando Abad to win the game, as David Robertson delivered a successful save attempt.

Philadelphia Phillies 9  Atlanta Braves 5: Jeremy Hellickson didn’t have a very good day, but he won the pitching duel with Julio Teheran, while Freddy Galvis stood out on offense with two RBIs. Hellickson also got a couple with a double in the 5th.

Colorado Rockies 7  New York Mets 2: The Rockies have won five in a row, the Mets have now lost four in a row. D.J. LeMahieu finished with 3 RBIs, David Dahl had a couple, and Jorge De La Rosa was good enough in six innings of work to get the win.

St. Louis Cardinals 0  Miami Marlins 11: Marcell Ozuna hit a two run homer, his 19th of the season, as the standout offensive moment in a Marlins demolition, shutting out the Cardinals despite Colin Rea leaving in the third inning with an elbow injury.

Kansas City Royals 1  Texas Rangers 2: The Rangers get to win with a walk off home run by a pretty hot Mitch Moreland, as the Kansas City Royals drop their third in a row.

Cincinnati Reds 1  San Diego Padres 2: Another walk off win to report about, this time coming in the 10th inning, with a home run from Adam Rosales, as the Padres held the Reds hitless in the final four innings.

Boston Red Sox 2  Los Angeles Angels 5: The Red Sox move further away from 1st in the AL East. They scored twice in the first inning, but Drew Pomeranz continues his disappointing affair with Boston, giving up a two-run homer to Albert Pujols, as the Red Sox were held to just six hits.

Arizona Diamondbacks 4  Los Angeles Dodgers 2: The Diamondbacks scored early, as usual. What’s unusual is that they held on to the lead, with Branden Shipley doing a good job in his start, and Jean Segura hitting his 9th home run of the season.
