The top 3 teams in Baseball extended their winnings streaks, as the Chicago Cubs won their fourth in a row thanks to some wild pitches against the Miami Marlins, the Washington Nationals made their NL East lead bigger with another laugher against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the Baltimore Orioles stay in AL East control thanks to a close victory over the Texas Rangers.

Milwaukee Brewers 3  San Diego Padres 12: Edwin Jackson had a great game, with 8 innings including 5 k’s on the mound, and an RBI in the 7th inning thanks to a double. The Padres led 11-0 before things got going for the Brewers, including Yangervis Solarte with a two-run homer, completing a strong day with 3 RBIs.

Washington Nationals 8  Arizona Diamondbacks 3: Max Scherzer gave up 4 hits, 3 runs while striking out 11 in 8 innings of work, also picking up a couple of RBIs with a two-RBI single in the 6th. Daniel Murphy hit his 21st home run of the season, Trea Turner hit his first.

New York Mets 5  New York Yankees 9: The Mets opened with a two run lead, and the game was still tied in the 2nd inning, but a three-run homer by Mark Texeira (a cut candidate) finished the game, while Luis Severino picked up his first win of the season in long relief.

Texas Rangers 2  Baltimore Orioles 3: Kevin Gausman pitches for 7 innings, allowing 7 hits and 7 k’s. A Carlos Beltran home run in the 1st didn’t help, as the Orioles responded with Mark Trumbo and Matt Wieters getting the 3 RBIs. Zach Britton picked up his 33rd save of the season.

Miami Marlins 4  Chicago Cubs 5: A Christian Yelich home run put the Marlins up 4-1, but the Cubs made their comeback, with a Fernando Rodney wild pitch helping Dexter Fowler score in the 8th, followed by three runs in the ninth: Sacrifice fly by Fowler, bases loaded and Ben Zobrist walking, and a wild pitch by A.J. Ramos, helping Matt Szczur score.

San Francisco Giants 4  Philadelphia Phillies 5: A second straight loss for the Giants, maintaining a small lead on top of the NL West. They led 4-0 but the Phillies mounted a comeback in the 7th and 8th innings, including home runs from Ryan Howard and Cameron Rupp, followed by a 12th inning winner by Maikel Franco, hitting the walk off single.

Minnesota Twins 13  Cleveland Indians 5: The Twins continue their inexplicable dominance over the Indians, winning a third in a row, this time with Brian Dozier hitting a home run and four RBIs for Joe Mauer, who also had 4 hits on the day.

Chicago White Sox 1  Detroit Tigers 2: The win brings the Tigers within two games of the slipping Indians, winning their 8th in a row. Chris Sale did a good job with 10 k’s in 8 innings, but no run support meant the double by Nick Castellanos and a J.D. Martinez home run in the 8th beat Sale, his 6th loss of the season.

Pittsburgh Pirates 4  Atlanta Braves 8: The Pirates started with four runs in the first inning, but were silenced the rest of the way. Rob Whalen did a good job of bouncing back from the rough start, helped by Mauricio Cabrera and Jim Johnson on the mound. Ender Inciarte hit the tiebreaking single in the 5th.

St. Louis Cardinals 5  Cincinnati Reds 4: Four runs in the first inning were enough for the Cardinals to ride for the rest of the game, that included a Stephen Piscotty solo home run to keep the Reds handled, his 15th of the season.

Kansas City Royals 0  Tampa Bay Rays 12: Rough for the Royals, held to only 2 hits by Jake Odorizzi and the bullpen. Steven Souza Jr. hit a three-run homer, Brad Miller banged his 18th of the season, and Kevin Kiermaier added a solo shot as well.

Toronto Blue Jays 3  Houston Astros 1: The win keeps the Blue Jays one game behind the Orioles, while the Astros remain 5.5 behind the Rangers. While Marco Estrada did a good job in 7 innings on the mound, Josh Donaldson hit a couple of home runs, making it to 27 this season, and Jose Bautista added his 16th this year.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2  Colorado Rockies 12: The Dodgers aren’t having a good time in Denver, giving up 17 hits, including five home runs. Two of them to Carlos Gonzalez to finish with 3 RBIs, and a three-run homer to Nolan Arenado.

Oakland Athletics 6  Los Angeles Angels 8: The A’s climbed back with runs in the 8th and 9th to tie the game, but Albert Pujols hit a walk off, two-run homer to give the Angels a second consecutive win, his 21st of the season, making it 84 RBIs.

Boston Red Sox 1  Seattle Mariners 3: A second straight loss for Boston in Seattle, dropping them to three games behind Baltimore. The Mariners hit three home runs off of Rick Porcello: Nelson Cruz, Adam Lind and Mike Zunino, while Hisashi Iwakuma gave up 5 hits in 7.1 innings, keeping the Red Sox scoreless.
