The Chicago Cubs keep looking good, the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays can’t shake off the Boston Red Sox, the Houston Astros get one over the Texas Rangers, the Detroit Tigers remain red hot and the Washington Nationals still making life difficult for the San Francisco Giants.

Cleveland Indians 7  New York Yankees 13: Michael Pineda did pretty well in his six-inning start, but the crown jewel in the Yankees win was a grand slam home run by Starlin Castro, his 12th overall of the season.

San Francisco Giants 1  Washington Nationals 5: Gio Gonzalez had a very good performance, striking out 7 batters in 7 innings, while home runs from Trea Turner and Wilson Ramos provided most of the offensive damage.

Cincinnati Reds 2  Pittsburgh Pirates 3: The Pirates stop the losing with a walk off home run by Sean Rodriguez, giving Tony Watson the win despite his blown save, allowing the Reds to tie the game in the 9th.

New York Mets 3  Detroit Tigers 4: The Tigers are now only two games behind the Indians in the AL Central, relying on another win for Justin Verlander (6 innings, 9 k’s) and a two-run homer, number 19 overall this season, from Victor Martinez.

Minnesota Twins 6  Tampa Bay Rays 2: A bottom dwellers battle was decided by a pinch hit home run by Eddie Rosario, grabbing the lead in the 7th, followed by Miguel Sano hitting a home run, signaling the bad days for him might be over.

Baltimore Orioles 7  Chicago White Sox 5: Adam Jones, Manny Machado and J.J. Hardy each have 3 hits, while Pedro Alvarez has another day of two home runs, making it to 18 this season, being the first one to score in the game and hitting his second long ball just when the White Sox were getting comfortable.

Chicago Cubs 7  Oakland Athletics 2: The Cubs scored 7 runs in the first three innings, including home runs by Jorge Soler and Dexter Fowler, while Jon Lester struck out 8 batters in 7 innings of work.

Texas Rangers 0  Houston Astros 5: The Astros are now 5.5 games behind the Rangers in the AL West, thanks to Dallas Keuchel tossing a 3-hitter, 9-inning game, while Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa each had a couple of RBIs.

Toronto Blue Jays 4  Kansas City Royals 3: The game started with Devon Travis hitting a home run to put the Blue Jays up by one, and the game ended in the 9th inning with Travis hitting his second of the game, breaking the tie and winning the game.

Atlanta Braves 0  St. Louis Cardinals 1: Jaime Garcia, in 8 innings of work, allowed only 3 hits while striking out 11. His single in the 2nd inning won the game for the Cardinals, held to only two hits in the game.

Miami Marlins 5  Colorado Rockies 3: The Marlins started their 9th inning batting order behind by two runs, but Adeiny Hechavarria and Martin Prado with singles, followed by Christian Yelich with a sacrifice fly, turned the game around.

Milwaukee Brewers 2  Arizona Diamondbacks 3: Two home runs from Yasmany Tomas helped the Diamondbacks keep up with the Brewers and make it into extra innings. In the 11th inning, it was Welington Castillo getting walked with the bases loaded that won the game.

Los Angeles Angels 4  Seattle Mariners 6: Mike Trout opened the game with a three-run homer, but the Mariners responded with six runs in the 1st inning, including a three-run homer by Mike Zunino, capping the huge run.

Boston Red Sox 9  Los Angeles Dodgers 0: The Red Sox stay close to the Orioles and Blue Jays, the Dodgers can’t get closer to the Giants with an embarrassing day, held to just three hits by Steven Wright. Mookie Betts, Sandy Leon and Travis Shaw scored home runs for the Red Sox.

Philadelphia Phillies 5  San Diego Chargers 4: Cameron Rupp had a big day with 4 RBIs, three of them coming off a big 3-run homer, while Jeremy Hellickson did a good job in 6.2 inning of work, allowing 6 hits.
