The New York Mets get humiliated by the Arizona Diamondbacks and take a postseason hopes hit, the Houston Astros score 25 runs in two games against the Minnesota Twins, and the Baltimore Orioles regain some lost ground with a win over the Oakland A’s, including a Mark Trumbo home run. The New York Yankees sunk the Boston Red Sox even further, getting a farewell-from-Fenway RBI out of Alex Rodriguez.

Arizona Diamondbacks 9  New York Mets 0: Something of an embarrassing loss for the Mets, getting shutout by the terrible Diamondbacks. Noah Syndergaard allowed 8 hits and 3 runs during his 5 inning stint. Things got worse after him. Tuffy Gosewisch hit a homerun, and Chris Owings had three hits and three RBIs, while Braden Shipley shut out the Mets in 7 innings, giving up just 3 hits, striking out 7.

San Diego Padres 0  Pittsburgh Pirates 4: Jameson Taillon pitches an 8-inning shutout while allowing only three hits, as two RBIs by David Freese stood out in the win for the Pirates who remain quite close to the St. Louis Cardinals in order to feel the season isn’t over for them yet.

Houston Astros 15  Minnesota Twins 7: The Astros made every hit count while the Twins simply couldn’t keep up. Jose Altuve had four hits and three RBIs, Carlos Correa hit a three-run homer, and George Springer finished with 3 RBIs as well, as Houston won its third in a row, including the doubleheader.

Houston Astros 10  Minnesota Twins 2: No problem in the second game too, with Springer and Correa remaining hot like earlier in the day with a home run each, and this time getting support from Evan Gattis with a three-run homer.

Colorado Rockies 12  Texas Rangers 9: Eight different players got RBIs for Colorado, including two for Justin Blackmon, one of them off a solo home run, and three for Carlos Gonzalez, getting a 3-RBI double in pinch hitting duty.

Atlanta Braves 3  Milwaukee Brewers 11: Chris Carter, Hernan Perez and Scooter Gennett each hit a home run, while Manny Pina and Orlando Arcia each had 3 RBIs, while Matt Garza did enough not to f*** up the win. 

St. Louis Cardinals 3  Chicago Cubs 4: The Cardinals were up by two early thanks to Yadier Molina and a home run by Brandon Moss, but the Cubs tied the game on a Chris Coghlan single and took the lead on a bunt by David Ross. A 7th inning home run by Ryan Grichuk sent the game into extra innings. In the 11th inning, Anthony Rizzo drew the walk with the bases loaded to win the game.

Baltimore Orioles 9  Oakland Athletics 6: Chris Tillman had another efficient day on the mound, while Adam Jones (solo home run, 23rd this season) and Mark Trumbo (grand slam, 32nd homer this season) provided most of the firepower.

New York Yankees 4  Boston Red Sox 2: The Yankees take a second straight from Boston, dropping the Red Sox to three games behind the Blue Jays in the AL East. Alex Rodriguez got an RBI (ground out) in his last game at Fenway Park, while the work of Dellin Betances and Luis Cessa in relief complemented Michael Pineda’s good start.

Los Angeles Angels 4  Cleveland Indians 14: The Indians had 14 hits, three of them home runs. Mike Napoli got his 29th of the season, a three run homer this time. Carlos Santana and Jose Ramirez bolted one each, and Corey Kluber got the win in a good start, with the bullpen not leaving the Angels with anything to do.

Chicago White Sox 1  Kansas City Royals 2: A second straight close win for the Royals over the White Sox, as the terrific Danny Duffy threw a complete game, striking out 6 and allowing just one run. RBIs came off a Eric Hosmer home run and Alex Cuthbert hitting a scoring single.
