The Chicago Cubs win their 11th game in a row, dominating the St. Louis Cardinals again. The Baltimore Orioles retake the lead in the AL East after beating the San Francisco Giants, while a terrific performance by the Cleveland Indians puts them further out of reach for the Detroit Tigers, all while Alex Rodriguez helped the New York Yankees win with an RBI double in his final appearance for the team, and probably in baseball.

Tampa Bay Rays 3  New York Yankees 6: Alex Rodriguez opened his final game with an RBI double, but home runs from Starlin Castro and Aaron Hicks in the 6th and 7th inning won the game after the Rays kept coming back.

Atlanta Braves 8  Washington Nationals 5: The Braves win in Washington for the first time since 2014, with home runs by Jace Peterson, Freddie Freeman (22nd this season) and Anthony Recker doing most of the leg work.

Colorado Rockies 6  Philadelphia Phillies 10: A big day for Ryan Howard in what might be his final season, finishing with 5 RBIs, including a grand slam home run, his 17th overall this season, slightly improving his terrible hitting numbers.

Houston Astros 5  Toronto Blue Jays 3: A nice start for Joe Musgrove, striking out 7 in 7 innings to earn his first career win, with jose Altuve hitting a two-run double in the fifth to take the lead, followed by a cruncher from Teoscar Hernandez in the following inning, his first home run of the season.

Arizona Diamondbacks 4  Boston Red Sox 9: Hanley Ramirez hit two home runs (both of them with two on base) and David Ortiz hit his 26th this season, as Boston led 8-2 by the end fo the second inning, and Patrick Corbin didn’t even make it out of the first two innings.

Los Angeles Angels 3  Cleveland Indians 13: The Indians tied a franchise record with 8 steals, Rajai Davis and Jose Ramirez getting 3 each. Ramirez and Brandon Guyer hit home runs, and Guyer finished with 5 RBIs on his three hits.

St. Louis Cardinals 2  Chicago Cubs 13: Jake Arrieta was good, but didn’t need to be brilliant as the Cubs hammered their division rivals with two home runs by Matt Szczur, a three-run homer from Wilson Contreras, one from Jorge Soler and another by Javier Baez, leading to the 11th straight win by the Cubs.

San Diego Padres 8  New York Mets 6: The Padres scored all of their runs within the first three innings, including two home runs for Ryan Schimpf, including one grand slam. Christian Bethancourt added a home run of his own.

Chicago White Sox 4  Miami Marlins 2: The White Sox scoring three runs within the first two innings helped them hold off the Marlins, getting a decent start from Carlos Rodon for once.

Detroit Tigers 5  Texas Rangers 8: Jonathan Lucroy continues to sizzle for the Rangers, hitting two home runs (6 since the trade). Mitch Moreland hit his 20th of the season, Carlo Beltran, another recent arrival, belted his 24th of the season.

Cincinnati Reds 7  Milwaukee Brewers 4: Homer Bailey struck out 11 in six innings of work, supporting the offense of Adam Duvall, Eugenio Suarez and Ivan de Jesus with a two-RBI pinch hit appearance.

Kansas City Royals 7  Minnesota Twins 3: The Royals seem to be on some sort of meaningless role, getting 11 hits while Yordano Ventura struck out 9 in 8 innings of work. Kendrys Morales hit his 19th home run of the season.

Seattle Mariners 3  Oakland Athletics 6: The Mariners finally lose, as Joe Wieland struggled in his five-inning start. Khris Davis hit a two-run homer (28th of the season) but the hitting of Yonder Alonso and Danny Valencia brought the win, breaking the 3-3 tie.

Pittsburgh Pirates 5  Los Angeles Dodgers 1: Ivan Nova earned his second win as a Pittsburgh starter, although the bullpen crew were better. Home runs by Andrew McCutchen and Jordy Mercer did most of the damage in a win that hurts the Dodgers inner division struggles.

Baltimore Orioles 5  San Francisco Giants 2: The O’s take the AL East lead with this quality win, enjoying some Dylan Bundy solidity, and home runs from Mark Trumbo and Chris Davis, while Adam Jones and Matt Wieters got RBIs as well.
