The Baltimore Orioles needed a 9th inning, three-run homer by Jonathan Schoop to beat the San Francisco Giants and stay close to the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East, while the Washington Nationals dominated again vs weak opposition, and the Boston Red Sox roared against the poor Arizona Diamondbacks, with Mookie Betts hitting three home runs.

Tampa Bay Rays 12  New York Yankees 3: The Rays take one from the Yankees with six runs in the 4th and 4 runs in the 7th, enjoying a three-run homer from Corey Dickerson and 4 RBIs by Evan Longoria.

Houston Astros 2  Toronto Blue Jays 9: The Blue Jays remain on top of the AL East with back to back home runs from Russell Martin and Troy Tulowitzki, while Marcus Stroman struck out 8 in 6.1 innings to earn the win.

Los Angeles Angels 4  Cleveland Indians 5: The Indians comeback in the 5th and 6th innings to erase a three-run deficit, starting with Francisco Lindor walking while the bases were loaded, and getting the lead on an RBI single by Abraham Almonte.

San Diego Padres 1  New York Mets 5: Steven Matz had a no-hitter going until the 8th inning, finishing with 8 k’s in 7.1 innings. Wilmer Flores and Neil Walker hit home runs and the Mets improve their position in the Wild Card race.

Chicago White Sox 4  Miami Marlins 5: The shock of losing Giancarlo Stanton didn’t stop the Marlins, opening a two-run lead in the 7th the White Sox couldn’t catch up with. The game ended with Christian Yelich throwing out a runner headed for home.

Arizona Diamondbacks 2  Boston Red Sox 16: One of those games showcasing how bad this season is for the Diamondbacks. Mookie Betts hit three home runs while Rick Porcello held the D-Backs to just 3 hits in his 7 innings, as the Red Sox win their third in a row, keeping a short distance from the Orioles and Blue Jays.

Atlanta Braves 1  Washington Nationals 9: Bryce Harper returned and got an RBI double, hoping his season goes in a better direction from here. Anthony Rendon and Chris Heisey hit home runs, Tanner Roark held the Braves to 5 hits in his 7 innings of work.

Colorado Rockies 6  Philadelphia Phillies 7: A great day for Jimmy Paredes with a solo home run and three RBIs overall, as the Phillies win their fourth in a row.

Cincinnati Reds 3  Milwaukee Brewers 7: Ryan Braun had six RBIs of the Brewers 7 runs, hitting a three run homer (his 22nd of the season), a solo home run too, and a double that scored two. Wily Peralta earned the win with 5 k’s in six innings.

Kansas City Royals 11  Minnesota Twins 4: The Royals got 16 hits on the day, including a home run for Paulo Orlando, who had 3 RBIs, just like Lorenzo Cain. Edinson Volquez earned the win with six innings of work, while Chris Young got the save on a three-inning relief stint.

Detroit Tigers 7  Texas Rangers 0: Michael Fulmer shuts out the Rangers with 9 strikeouts in 9 innings, allowing only four hits. The Tigers hit four home runs, including two run homers for both Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez. They are 5 games behind the Indians, and slightly trailing the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card race.

Seattle Mariners 8  Oakland Athletics 4: The Mariners are back on the streak again, trying to cover the ground they need to make the playoffs. Kyle Seager finished with four RBIs, Adam Lind hit his 17th home run of the season, and Wade LeBlanc earned the win with 7 strikeouts in 6 innings.

Pittsburgh Pirates 11  Los Angeles Dodgers 3: The Dodgers can’t take advantage of the Giants losing, as Brett Anderson returned to the mound and didn’t last more than one inning, giving up five runs. Chad Kuhl had a good day on the mound, while Jordy Mercer, Sean Rodriguez and Jung Ho Kang hit home runs. Rodriguez finished with 4 RBIs.

St. Louis Cardinals 6  Chicago Cubs 4: The Cubs drop a second in a row as the Cardinals hold on to one of the Wild Card spots for now, winning thanks to a three-run homer by Stephen Piscotty that turned the game over to St. Louis after trailing 3-1 in the 8th.
