Adrian Gonzalez

The AL East continues to intrigue in its hold over the American League wild card spots, with wins for both the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox. The Seattle Mariners remain just behind them after some power hitting helping them beat the New York Yankees, but the best display of power came from Cincinnati, as the Los Angeles Dodgers destroyed the Reds, hitting 7 home runs, including 3 by Adrian Gonzalez.

Los Angeles Dodgers 18  Cincinnati Reds 9: Another big hitting day for the Dodgers in Cincinnati, with three home runs from Adrian Gonzalez, part of a 7-homerun day from the Dodgers, including number 22 this season for Corey Seager, while they open a one game lead over the Giants in the NL West.

Washington Nationals 3  Baltimore Orioles 4: The Nats lose their second in a row, while the Orioles improve their position as they try to regain the top spot in the AL East. Both Mark Trumbo and Jonathan Schoop hit home runs in the win, getting a decent start from their pitcher for once, as Dylan Bundy earned the win.

Houston Astros 3  Pittsburgh Pirates 1: The Astros move to 3.5 games behind 2nd in the wild card, the Pirates fall to 3.5 games behind for the same spot in the NL. Doug Fister had a strong 7-inning performance on the mound, while home runs from Teoscar Hernandez and Alex Bregman did the work offensively.

Boston Red Sox 6  Tampa Bay Rays 2: David Price continues to play extremely well lately, striking out 8 while allowing only 2 hits in 8 innings of work, including a shutout before things slipped a bit after he came off. Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run homer in the 9th to lead the Red Sox in RBIs.

Colorado Rockies 2  Milwaukee Brewers 4: Jimmy Nelson struck out 4 in 6 innings to earn the win, Chris Carter hit his 30th home run of the season, Ryan Braun added an RBI as well.

Atlanta Braves 8  Arizona Diamondbacks 9: A Walk-off home run win for the D-Backs, getting a big hit from Paul Goldschmidt to kick off celebrations, responding to Freddie Freeman who tied the game in the top of the 9th with a home run of his own.

Cleveland Indians 1  Oakland Athletics 0: Carlos Carrasco was terrific, striking out 9 in 8 innings while giving up 4 hits, before Andrew Miller gave the team a 3-strikeout save. Carlos Santana with an 8th-inning home run won the game.

New York Yankees 5  Seattle Mariners 7: The Mariners remain just behind the AL East holding the two wild card berths, with three home runs doing all of the damage in their favor including coming from behind thanks to Mike Zunino hitting a 3-run homer, and Nelson Cruz finishing up with his 32nd of the season.

Chicago Cubs 5  San Diego Padres 1: Jon Lester struck out 8 in six innings of work, and three home runs from the Cubs (Addison Russell, Kris Bryant, Jason Heyward) backed up his strong performance.
