The second day in the round of 32 provided some great games, but only one real upset, as Stanford beat Kas snas 60-57 to make it into the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in six years, leaving out another team with a freshman that was supposed to be going places this season.

NCAA Tournament Upsets – Mercer Beat Duke, SF Austin Over VCU
The string of big upsets in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament continues, beginning with the huge upset in the Mercer – Duke game, with the Blue Devils ousted by the experienced and simply better Atlantic Sun team, while Stephen F. Austin stunning VCU was just as big of a shock for everyone, only with less of a nationwide impact.

NCAA Tournament – Favorites Avoid Any Real Problems
We did have two or three major upsets in the first day of the real NCAA tournament, but the teams expected to go long mostly avoided any problems, as Wisconsin beat American, Syracuse overcame Western Michigan, Florida struggled against Albany, Michigan State had no problem against Delaware, Villanova destroyed Milwaukee and Louisville found it quite difficult to overcome Manhattan.

NCAA Tournament Upsets – Dayton Beat Ohio State, North Dakota State Over Oklahoma
We couldn’t have one quiet day of favorites winning all their games while brackets weren’t torn to shreds. Dayton pulled off the first big upset of the NCAA tournament on the very first game, but later on were joined by North Dakota State, coming away as the victors from their clash with Oklahoma.

NCAA Tournament – Tennessee Over Iowa, Cal Poly Over Texas Southern
We’re done with the first four, so the real NCAA Tournament can begin, even if it starts with the second round. The picture of 64 teams was complete as Tennessee beat Iowa in overtime 78-65, while Cal Poly had an excellent shooting performance to overcome Texas Southern, putting them in the bracket despite their losing record.

NCAA Tournamnet – North Carolina State & Albany Get Past First Four
Not everyone really agrees with the expanded NCAA tournament, which is the two nights of the First Four stage, but the winning teams don’t really care. The first two to go through? North Carolina State with a 74-59 win over Xavier, and Albany, beating Mount St Mary’s 71-64.

Duke Blue Devils – Mike Krzyzewski Should Worry About His Own Team
Instead of showing some humility after a slightly disappointing regular season, Mike Krzyzewski decided that the best way for him to help his team out heading into the NCAA tournament is by taking shots at the Atlantic 10 for getting six teams into the tournament, just as much as the ACC.

Wichita State Shockers – The Number One Team Nobody Believes In
As impressive as the Wichita State undefeated season and MVC double title are, it’s just hard to feel 100% confident about their seeding as a number one team, even after the Final Four from last season, simply based on the fact that they faced mediocre opposition at best throughout this whole season.

Most Championships in College Basketball
By beating Michigan 82-76 in the 2013 NCAA Tournament Final, Louisville became the 8th school to win at least three College Basketball championships since the NCAA tournament began in 1939, joining Kansas, Connecticut, Duke, North Carolina, Indiana, Kentucky and UCLA.
