The spotlight was on Jacoby Ellsbury, playing in Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox as a member of the New York Yankees for the first time. The crowd was silenced quickly, the boos and jeers didn’t really matter. Ellsbury had a good day on the field, and the Yankees came away with the 9-3 win.

Pirates Over Reds – Memorable Grand Slam Home Run
An important win for the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Cincinnati Reds came thanks to a Neil Walker walk-off single, but Ike Davis hitting a grand slam home run earlier in the game was possibly the more interesting moment in the 6-5 victory.

Braves Over Mets – Almost a No Hitter
Right now, it’s hard to find a team playing better than the Atlanta Braves in all of Baseball. Their 6-0 win over the New York Mets showcased some incredible pitching, as Aaron Harang finished the game with a 7-inning no hitter that was “ruined” later on by the bullpen, eventually allowing David Wright to get a single hit in the game for the losing side.

Yankees Over Rays – Triple Play Steals the Show
A lot of good things are happening right now for the New York Yankees: The winning streak, CC Sabathia looking better, big hitting from Alfonso Soriano and Brian McCann. However, triple plays don’t come around too often, and the one that did stole the spotlight in the 10-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

A’s Over Angels – Somehow They Pulled it Off
The A’s keep finding ways to get out of tough situations and come up with dramatic wins. The next in this impressive line of victories came over the Los Angeles Angels, beating their division rivals 10-9 thanks to Josh Donaldson hitting and RBI double in the 11th inning.

Giants Over Dodgers – It Had to End at Some Point
There’s a problem with Baseball and the length of certain games, and the San Francisco Giants beating the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 after 12 innings and most importantly six minutes shy of five hours is a perfect example of a sport that has games run a bit too long.

Braves Beat Phillies – Dan Uggla Can Still Have Big Games
From time to time, Dan Uggla reminds everyone why he has such a huge contract. Two home runs, including a grand slam in the ninth, is probably a good enough reminder as the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-6 in what people would refer to as a slugfest.

The Milwaukee Brewers were scorching going into their first game of the series against the St. Louis Cardinals, but a wonderful performance on the mound from Lance Lynn meant it was an end to their nine-game winning streak and an impressive 4-0 win for the Cards.

It isn’t a real New York Yankees – Boston Red Sox series without a little bit of controversy, as instant replays and reviews took center stage in the fourth game as well. Once again, the Yankees got the benefit of the doubt and eventually won 3-2 after a big hitting day from Carlos Beltran.
