Day 6 of the World Cup is when we complete the first round of group stage matches and head back to the beginning as Brazil play their second match, this time against Mexico. We also get to see Group H in action with Belgium taking on Algeria and Russia facing South Korea.

2014 World Cup – Day 2 Results & Table
Day 2 of the 2014 World Cup brought us the sensational result from group B as the Netherlands crushed Spain 5-1 with braces from Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben. Chile also won in that group, beating Australia 3-1, while Mexico capped things off in Group A with an impressive 1-0 win over Cameroon which wasn’t as close as the scoreline might suggest.

Justice sometimes is done, despite terrible officiating. Wilmar Roldán and his crew cancelled two legal goals from Giovani Dos Santos but Mexico eventually got the goal they deserves as Oribe Peralta scored off of a rebound, giving them a 1-0 win over Cameroon get a huge advantage in group A to join the qualifiers.

2014 World Cup – Day 2 Predictions (Spain vs Netherlands, Mexico vs Cameroon, Chile vs Australia)
The second day of the 2014 World Cup isn’t just about the Group B headliner and a rematch of the previous final between Spain and the Netherlands, but also gives us the second match in Group A which should be enjoyable as Mexico play against Cameroon while we also have somewhat dark horse candidate Chile playing against Australia.

Match Highlights – Brazil vs Croatia
A very enjoyable opening match which ended in a predictable way, although with a bitter taste in the mouths of those who watched. Neymar scored twice and Oscar finished as Brazil beat Croatia 3-1 despite conceding first from a Marcelo own goal, later helped by a penalty decision from Yuichi Nishimura that saved the hosts from a very complicated situation.

And so it begins – The 2014 World Cup, as the host nation, Brazil, with an enormous amount of pressure and expectations on their shoulders, begin the road to what hopefully, for them, ends with lifting the trophy for a sixth time, while Croatia, on paper the second strongest team in Group A, will try and make it yet another surprise in the history of World Cup openers.

The group of the hosts seems like Brazil and three more teams battling for second place, as Mexico and Croatia seem a bit more likely to finish ahead of Cameroon, who seem weaker and weaker with every big tournament they reach.

Euro 2012 – Day 9 Summary (Greece vs Russia, Czech Republic vs Poland)
Everything that was predicted in this group got turned up side down. Russia, the best team through the first two matches lost to Greece 0-1, and while safe as long as there was a draw between Poland and the Czech Republic, Petr Jiracek sent the Czechs into the next stage along with Greece as the first quarter-finalists in Euro 2012.

The final day for Group A brings us two matches at the same time, with Greece hoping to surprise Russia and by that secure a place in the quarterfinals while the co-hosts Poland have to win against the Czech Republic in order to keep their nation’s interest in the tournament alive.

Euro 2012 – Day 5 Summary (Czech Republic vs Greece, Poland vs Russia)
Poland and Russia, as expected, gave us the more entertaining match in a not stop affair, clouded by the pre-match violence that ended in yet another 1-1 draw for the hosts, leaving Group A wide open. Earlier on day 5 of Euro 2012, the Czech Republic rebounded from their opening loss with a quick blitz to nearly put Greece out of the tournament with a 2-1 win.
