Most notably, obviously, were Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, probably up for another two horse title race in the 2012-2013 season.

Just like in most of Europe, the recession and the new FIFA financial fair play regulations beginning in 2013 have really cut expenditures to a minimum. Milan, Inter and Lazio hardly spent a Euro on new transfers, with only the champions Juventus making a big splash in the transfer market in order to keep their Serie A title in 2012-2013 as well.
