    Poland and Russia, as expected, gave us the more entertaining match in a not stop affair, clouded by the pre-match violence that ended in yet another 1-1 draw for the hosts, leaving Group A wide open. Earlier on day 5 of Euro 2012, the Czech Republic rebounded from their opening loss with a quick blitz to nearly put Greece out of the tournament with a 2-1 win.

    Andriy Shevchenko was undoubtedly the hero of the last day of Euro 2012 first round of matches, scoring twice in the Ukraine’s 2-1 win over Sweden, putting them at the top of Group D. England defended well enough against France to secure a 1-1 draw, giving Roy Hodgson a decent start against a much better opponent.

    Italy, as always, were too tough of a nugget for Spain to beat, displaying a strong defense that was good enough to draw with the usual elegant passing of the Spanish midfield (1-1). The later match provided a bit more goals due to the quality differences between Croatia and Ireland, as Mario Mandzukic became the second brace scorer in Euro 2012.

  • Euro 2012 – Day 2 Summary (Netherlands – Denmark, Germany – Portugal)

    Mario Gomez was the hero for Germany as they managed to pull through a very tough and physical fixture with Portugal, coming away as the 1-0 winners, while Denmark joined them as the surprise leaders in group B with Michael Krohn-Delhi delivering a stunning goal to beat the Netherlands 1-0. Joachim Low disgusted everyone by eating what he picked from his nose.

Poland and Greece provided us with two goals and two red cards, while Russia showed from the first moment they are the class of this group with an impressive 4-1 thrashing of the Czech Republic after a wonderful performance from Andrei Arshavin and Alan Dzagoev.
