On Referees and the Premier League Title Race
Danny Murphy was fouled by Michael Carrick at the 89th minute during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Fulham, putting them 3 points ahead of Manchester City, with eight matches left to play. Michael Oliver, as many referees tend to do when their job is at the Old Trafford, loses his ability to blow the whistle at times.

Peter Crouch With the Goal of the Season in the Premier League
Peter Crouch never ceases to amaze, to surprise. It’s his height that’s misleading, no matter how many times he shows us he’s more than just a tall player with aerial superiority. His incredible goal in Stoke’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City is not only the goal of the season in the English Premier League, but a wonderful gift to Alex Ferguson and Manchester United.

Manchester United at Wolves – Too Easy For League Leaders
Wolves haven’t won at home since December 4, so there wasn’t much hope the bottom ranked team in the Premier League would actually stop Manchester United’s stride towards their fifth league title in six years. Still, a 0-5 home defeat as Ronald Zubar picked up two yellow cards in 11 minutes while Javier Hernandez broke his league scoring drought with a brace. And to think United lost 2-1 on their last visit to the Molineux.

Robin van Persie is Just the “Bad” Guy Arsenal Need
Robin van Persie scored his 26th league goal of the season for Arsenal, countering Hatem Ben Arfa’s opener for Newcastle in what became a dramatic 2-1 win for the Gunners, putting them a point behind Tottenham in the battle for third. More importantly, the Arsenal captain showed signs that Arsenal might be growing out of their long and disappointing “soft” phase.

Andre Villas-Boas Gets the Roman Abramovich Treatment – Sacked From Chelsea
Andre Villas-Boas was feeling it coming in the air last night, and there was no surprise that after his seventh league defeat of the season, a deserved 1-0 at the Midlands against West Brom, Roman Abramovich chose to terminate the contract and sack the Portuguese manager after less than 10 months at the helm.

Chelsea’s Romance With Andre Villas-Boas Almost Over
Andre Villas-Boas had nothing to say to his defense. Another loss, Chelsea’s 7th in the Premier League this season, this time to West Brom, 1-0 coming late in the match. The away form, the general from, the thundering silence from Roman Abramovich and the potential exits from both the FA Cup and the Champions League, and the storm clouds just aren’t going away.

Van Persie Doubles Up at Anfield (Liverpool vs Arsenal)
Liverpool scored first, but failed to capitalize on their superiority all throughout the match. Arsenal didn’t attack much, but Robin Van Persie was there to do his usual fabulous finishing job, scoring twice, including a quality volley in injury time, to give Arsenal a 2-1 win over the Reds and be the first team to leave Anfield with 3 points.

There’s Only One Team in North London (Arsenal vs Tottenham)
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are navigating through a terrible season in their standards, but their 5-2 win over Tottenham in the North London Derby, in their best display of the season with Theo Walcott scoring twice to cap off a comeback from 0-2 down will undoubtedly raise the spirits back to normal among Gunners fans, at least for a week or so.
