Oregon Ducks – At Least They Won the Civil War

An arrogant bunch, the 2013 version of the Oregon Ducks. If it’s not the national title, it’s not good enough for them. That kind of thinking led to a shocking loss in Arizona, ending their chance of winning the Pac-12 and going to the Rose Bowl. They almost let their rivalry against Oregon State and the small chance of appearing in a BCS bowl slip away too, until Marcus Mariota and Josh Huff decided that enough is enough, coming up with the dramatic touchdown to win the game 36-35.

Oregon vs Arizona – The Bursting of a Bubble

For a moment there, Oregon saw a chance open up to win the Pac 12 North division, and via that the conference. Marcus Mariota saw a chance to win the Heisman trophy once again. But then came the unfortunate visit to Tuscon. Mariota was intercepted twice, Arizona beat the Ducks 42-16, and all that’s left now is some pride to regain in the Civil War game.

Florida State Seminoles – The Biggest Winners From Oregon vs Stanford

Even though Stanford were the team that won the Pac-12 game of the year against Oregon, Florida State of the ACC are the big winners of that outcome, permanently moving up to the number 2 spot in the BCS standings, which means a ticket to the national champions game, as long as they don’t mess up in the road left for them to travel.

Oregon vs Stanford – Nothing Changes in the Pac 12

Despite all the hype, Oregon once again don’t have what it takes to get past the biggest challenge their conference has to offer, losing 20-26 to Stanford, failing to score a single point before the fourth quarter, while the Cardinal simply relied on Tyler Gaffney to do everything for them on offense.

Pac 12 – Oregon vs Stanford Predictions

Losing to Stanford last year denied Oregon the chance to play for the national championship. This year, Marcus Mariota and those around him are hoping they’ve worked out whatever kept them from beating the Cardinal last year in what has become the best game the Pac-12 has to offer.

Oregon Ducks – Not Only About Marcus Mariota & Offense

There haven’t been many moments in recent years in which the Oregon Ducks got stuck on offense. But just in those cases, when Marcus Mariota is less than brilliant and is only very good, there’s an underrated defense that was able to hold the toughest rivals they faced this season scoreless during the second half.

  • Oregon Ducks – Mariota Doesn’t Let Turnovers Bring Him Down

Oregon Ducks – Mariota Doesn’t Let Turnovers Bring Him Down

Despite being 40-point favorites in their home game against Washington State, Oregon made it less than easy for themselves through second quarter turnovers, including two fumbles by Marcus Mariota, who is a good enough player to put mistakes like that behind them and get the Ducks rolling again en route to another impressive offensive display and remaining perfect so far this season.

  • Oregon Ducks – Marcus Mariota, Nation’s Best Quarterback

Oregon Ducks – Marcus Mariota, Nation’s Best Quarterback

The critics said Oregon still weren’t tested enough with a quality rival and some fourth quarter pressure in order to be considered as a national title contender. But Marcus Mariota raised his game when the time was right, and the Ducks remain the only undefeated team in the Pac-12 North, taking one huge step towards doing what they failed to complete last year.

Oregon Ducks – Marcus Mariota Makes a Great Case For the Heisman

It’s hard to define the Oregon Ducks offense by signaling out just one player, but the way Marcus Mariota has performed over the last two years and especially since the start of this season makes it seem like he just might be the best quarterback in the nation, and the leading candidate right now to win the Heisman trophy.
