After three weeks of College Football, we have 17 teams with a perfect 3-0 record: Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas and LSU in the SEC; Oregon and Arizona in the Pac-12; Maryland in the ACC; Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State in the Big 12; Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern and Ohio State in the Big Ten; and Louisville and UCF in the AAC.
However, there are much more teams undefeated, with a 2-0 record: Houston from the AAC; Florida State, Clemson, Miami and Georgia Tech in the ACC; Baylor in the Big 12; Navy among the Independents; Northern Illinois in the MAC; Fresno State in the MWC; Stanford, Washington, Arizona State, Colorado and UCLA in the Pac-12; Missouri and Alabama in the SEC; and Texas State in the Sun Belt.
Undefeated records ending? Nebraska will probably fall from the rankings after dropping a 18 point lead against UCLA, furthering the pain Pac-12 teams cause the Big Ten. USC got their second win of the season and ended Boston College’s undefeated start with a 35-7 win giving us the first taste of decent quarterback ability.
Duke, if anyone was surprised, aren’t undefeated anymore, as Georgia Tech easily defeated the Blue Devils 38-14 behind a strong performance from their quarterback Vlad Lee. Texas A&M, in the biggest game of the weekend or the season, couldn’t bounce back from an early deficit, losing 49-42 to Alabama.
Tennessee couldn’t reestablish themselves as an elite program with a tough visit to Eugene against Oregon, losing 59-14 and ending their perfect start to the season. Central Florida got their first ever win against the Big Ten with a stunning 34-31 beating of Penn State, ending the Lions’ perfect start as well.
Washington winning in Illinois was another hit for the Big Ten in a non-conference game, with the Illini losing for the first time this season, dropping to 2-1. Oregon State, with a dramatic 51-48 win over Utah ended the Ute’s perfect start to the season as well. In the final nail of the Big Ten coffin this weekend, Arizona State beat Wisconsin 32-30 to hand the Badgers their first loss of the season.
