Miami Heat – LeBron James Needs Dwyane Wade Healthy & Better
The road trip out West was never going to be easy for the Miami Heat, one of the oldest teams in the NBA. While a 6-3 start isn’t anything to be panicking about, the problems on defense, especially when Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen on the floor, have to be keeping Erik Spoelstra and an excellent LeBron James quite a bit worried.

San Antonio Spurs – Right Now, the Best in the West
Forget about everything said in the preseason. As long as Gregg Popovich, Tim Duncan and especially this season Tony Parker are somehow linked to the San Antonio Spurs, this team is in the running for the Western crown and the NBA title. It’s still early, but it’s pretty clear they aren’t going anywhere.

New York Knicks – Defense no Longer a Dirty Word
While most of the New York Knicks starting the season with a 5-0 record (for the first time in 19 years) is attributed to Carmelo Anthony playing responsibly and unselfishly, a lot of it has to do with the way the team has been playing defense through the first five games, something which hasn’t been exactly a point of pride in recent seasons.

Boston Celtics – Rajon Rondo Still Learning to be More Selfish
It was never going to be too hard of a night for Rajon Rondo, who was destined to have a big night. Not just with assists, passing at least 10 for the 31st consecutive time, something that hasn’t happened in the NBA in over 22 years, but with his scoring, leading the Boston Celtics above the .500 mark for the first time this season.

Denver Nuggets – JaVale McGee is Great at Dunking
The problem with a lot of big men in the NBA today is the lack of offensive skills. JaVale McGee is yet another player who falls right into that stereotype, with his athleticism allowing him to be an excellent defender and shot blocker; fantastic at dunking the ball, as he proved in two consecutive plays as the Denver Nuggets lost to the Phoenix Suns.

Miami Heat – The LeBron James We’ve Been Waiting For
In an 82 game season, you have to pace your self, and figure out what battles to give up on right away. LeBron James had his first big game of the season on the third game of the Miami Heat road trip, including a huge fourth quarter, the kind people were always saying he never comes up with, until last postseason.

Los Angeles Lakers – Kobe Bryant Gets Mike D’Antoni Instead of Phil Jackson
Things move quickly with the Los Angeles Lakers, who have won their two games since firing Mike Brown, but have already chosen to sign Mike D’Antoni on a four year deal, putting pack on the pressure road of winning now and winning big, while hoping Kobe Bryant and Dwight Howard are happy with the new choice.

Miami Heat – Lazy Game by LeBron James & Dwyane Wade
Having LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh simply doesn’t cut it. Coming in unprepared, possibly lazy to a very tough road game on a difficult six game road trip didn’t leave the Miami Heat a chance, hurt once more by letting a team have its way from beyond the arc.
-
San Antonio Spurs – Gary Neal in the Spotlight For Once
Tony Parker out with the flu, Gary Neal stepping in, no problem, not missing a beat. Instead of shaking the rotation, Gregg Popovich decided Gary Neal will continue to come off the bench, giving the starting role to Patrick Mills. However, it was Neal, with 27 points, who was the main man responsible for the San Antonio Spurs winning in Portland for the first time since 2008

Chicago Bulls – Nate Robinson Proving His Worth
It was never going to be a one man job filling in for the injured Derrick Rose. Probably for the first time this season, the restocked group known as the bench mob pushed the Chicago Bulls to a win, led by Nate Robinson, enjoying his best game for his new team with 18 points in a 87-80 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
