Still number one, but with less first place votes, being spread out among Baylor, TCU, Utah and even Clemson, who complete the top 5. Florida are in the top 10 following another impressive win and Michigan are getting very close, while Oklahoma took a big tumble following their loss to Texas, Northwestern are on their way out while Georgia and USC are out of the rankings following their second loss of the season.

College Football Rumors – Michigan Wolverines Have the Defense Best in the Nation
The arrival of Jim Harbaugh at Michigan to take the head coach job was met with unanimous agreement that this move will take the program forward and back to where it belongs. 2015 College Football Season – Rankings Need a New Number One
Maybe Ohio State are still undefeated, but their ability in most of their recent wins suggest we might need a new number one team to top the rankings. TCU or Baylor, constantly putting up huge offensive numbers might be next in line, as Michigan State don’t look too impressive as well while Utah, rounding up the top 5, have done the most with the toughest schedule. Week 6 wasn’t about upsets except for Texas stunning former #10 Oklahoma, but more about narratives and storylines, especially the one Michigan have been developing.

USC Trojans – Steve Sarkisian Needs to Worry, Washington Have a Great Defense
More than anything, USC losing to Washington 17-12 at home despite being double-digit favorites before the game makes it quite clear that Steve Sarkisian is now coaching for his job, as the Huskies defense pulled quite a number on him and Cody Kessler, combined with some inspiring creativity to take the lead in the third quarter.

Toledo and Iowa make their rankings debut, while Wisconsin, Mississippi State and West Virginia get dropped.

2015 College Football Season – Week 2 Rankings
The top 3 remains unchanged following week 2 as Ohio State, Alabama and TCU cruise against weak teams. Michigan State make a small but meaningful jump after beating Oregon, who along with Auburn took the big plummets of the week, as the Tigers struggling against an FCS team costs them 12 spots. BYU, Oklahoma State and Northwestern make their first appearances in the top 25 this season, filling in for three SEC teams that dropped out: Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi State.
