The 25 best photos from 302 events in 26 sports spread over 19 days of competition don’t show all 10,500 (more or less) athletes that played a part in the 2012 Olympic games in London, but the two big winners on the track (Usain Bolt) and in the pool (Michael Phelps) remained the same from four years ago.

New World Records Set in the 2012 Olympic Games
No less than 37 world record were broken during the 2012 Olympic games on the track, the pool, Cycling, Rowing, Weightlifting, Shooting and Archery competitions, with Usain Bolt anchoring the Jamaican team in the 4×100 and Rebecca Soni of the United States involved in no less than 3 new records, including setting two in the space of 24 hours.

Athletics Gold Medal Count of the 2012 Summer Olympics
As with all these Olympics, the Americans come out on top, mostly thanks to the women and Allyson Felix, who took home three gold medals including her first individual gold. Usain Bolt was the big star for the men, winning three gold medals while setting a new Olympic record in the 100 meters and a new world record in the 4×100.

Gold Medal Winners on Day 13 of the 2012 Summer Olympics
Another fantastic all-around day for the USA with Athletics, Water Polo and football gold, but with Usain Bolt on the track, everything else diminishes, even David Rudisha’s fantastic new world record in the 800 meters race. Bolt completed his second 100-200 double, finishing with 19.32 as he eased off during the final stretch.
