Carmelo Anthony has been there at every turn so far this season, stepping up whenever he was needed to carry the game, on his back, to victory.

Talks of rivalry don’t really mean anything when the Nets keeps sliding while the Knicks, getting Carmelo Anthony back from a two game absence, had no problem beating their across-the-bridge rivals for a second time in a row while establishing a six game lead in the Atlantic Division, mostly thanks to Anthony who can’t be stopped when facing the Brooklyn rivals.

The return of Carmelo Anthony after missing two straight games went swimmingly. Two games out of action, Anthony didn’t miss a beat. The New York Knicks are still perfect at home, Anthony is still very much in the MVP discussions, and his team look like as good as any in the Eastern Conference.

While most of the New York Knicks starting the season with a 5-0 record (for the first time in 19 years) is attributed to Carmelo Anthony playing responsibly and unselfishly, a lot of it has to do with the way the team has been playing defense through the first five games, something which hasn’t been exactly a point of pride in recent seasons.

Heat – Knicks Series Was Never a Fair Fight
It was never a fair fight. The Miami Heat did have their bad game in New York but in general, this series wasn’t even close. LeBron James was too dominant from the first moment in game 5, and the New York Knicks, with their current roster, don’t have enough to bring to the table against a much superior opponent.

Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith With the Double Alley-Oop
J.R. Smith is incredible, maybe the most impressive dunker in the NBA. Iman Shumpert has made more than a slight impression with his energy and athleticism off the bench during his rookie season with the New York Knicks. In the 101-79 win over the Detriot Pistons, the two combined for one of the most impressive Alley-Oop dunks of the season.
