2016 Olympics: Day 5 Medal Table & Gold Medals
Day 5 was a big day for Japan, winning three gold medals, including Kohei Uchimura repeating as the men’s gymnastics all-around champion. Both China and the United States won two gold medals, with Katie Ledecky adding another one to her tally, finishing the 4×200 meters freestyle relay with a time no one on this plant can come close to at this point.

Another big day for the Americans, winning four gold medals, including three in the pool, while the women take the women take the all-around gold in gymnastics. Michael Phelps added two more golds to his collection, while Katie Ledecky grew her legend a bit more. China had three golds (two in weightlifting) while France won their first gold medals of the Rio Olympics.

Swimming Gold Medal Count of the 2013 World Championships
As always, the United States finish on top of the Swimming World Championships, leading the gold and total medal count, with Missy Franklin emerging as the big star of the pool for the women, winning a total of six gold medals despite only recently turning 18.

World Records Set in the 2013 Swimming World Championships
In the post special suits era of swimming you don’t expect too many records to be broken in the World Championships, and yet it happened six times in Barcelona, all by women swimmers, with Lithuanian sensation Ruta Meilutyte and another 16-year old, Katie Ledecky, both breaking two records during the meet, with Yulia Yefimova and Rikke Moller Pedersen adding a world record each.
