College Football Playoff: Week 9 Rankings
The College Football Playoff committee released their first rankings of the season, which means we’re getting closer to decision time, and we have our first glimpse of the contenders for the playoffs. Alabama, Clemson and Michigan are unsurprisingly the top 3 teams, in that order. However, Texas A&M sitting above Washington at number 4 wasn’t something most people expected.

College Football Rankings
No change in the top 7 of the rankings following week 4, with Alabama, Ohio State (without playing), Louisville, Michigan, Clemson, Houston and Stanford staying put. Wisconsin enter the top 10 for the first time this season, Ole Miss enjoy the biggest rise after beating Georgia, who had the biggest drop of all, 13 spots. LSU and Oklahoma (without playing) dropped from the rankings, in a week when all four ranked teams that lost did so against other ranked teams.

College Football: Rankings Changes, Upsets & Big Comebacks
If the results of week 3 taught us anything about the 2016 college football season, is that we have a better picture of the real contenders and favorites for the playoffs and national title, like Alabama and Ohio State after their impressive road wins against ranked opponents, and who doesn’t belong there: Florida State after being crushed by Louisville, Notre Dame following another home loss, and Oklahoma themselves, with two losses against ranked teams to show their big game problem hasn’t disappeared.

The only new team to the top 10 is Louisville, while Georgia fall out of it despite not losing.

College Football: One Major & Illegal Upset, Favorites Struggle, Rankings to Shuffle
Week 2 of the college football season was supposed to simple: Only two real threats of upsetting ranked teams, and plenty of easy games for the rest. Teams like Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan made it look easy. Others, like Georgia and Clemson struggled with some very weak opponents, which could hurt them in the rankings. Others, like TCU and especially Oklahoma State, fell into the upset trap, which will probably move them from the polls, at least for one week.

2016 College Football Season: Week 1 Rankings
The week 1 AP Top 25 offers little change in top 5, with Alabama and Clemson retaining their 1-2 spots, while Florida State, Ohio State and Michigan make minor advancements instead of Oklahoma and LSU, having huge falls after their losses. Houston rose to number 6 thanks to beating the Sooners, while Washington, Georgia and Wisconsin join Stanford to complete the top 10, while Florida were the only team that won and still dropped from the rankings.

2016 College Football Season: Upsets, Blowouts & Rankings Effect
An interesting (and too spread out) opening weekend to the 2016 season in college football, with LSU stunned by unranked Wisconsin, Houston doing the game to Oklahoma, while USC suffered one of the worst losses in school history, by making the mistake and agreeing to meet Alabama on neutral ground. Obviously, rankings are going to shift due to some of these results, although it is just week 1.

National Signing Day is Over, so Who Won?
The question of the winner on National Signing Day is usually revealed a year, two or even three after it happens. But for now, it’s all about the number of good players you’ve signed. Florida State seem to have had the most impressive of recruiting classes, followed by Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Ohio State and Michigan, at least according to the ESPN rankings.
