    World Records Set in the 2013 Swimming World Championships

    In the post special suits era of swimming you don’t expect too many records to be broken in the World Championships, and yet it happened six times in Barcelona, all by women swimmers, with Lithuanian sensation Ruta Meilutyte and another 16-year old, Katie Ledecky, both breaking two records during the meet, with Yulia Yefimova and Rikke Moller Pedersen adding a world record each.

    Once again, the pool brought us the most interesting stories with Yannick Angel of France continuing to dominate in the 200 meters freestyle, blowing everyone out of the water and leaving Ryan Lochte without a medal, while 15 year old Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania became the youngest gold medalist in the pool. China (still leading the medal table) dominated diving and Gymnastics as always while North Korean men continue to dominate weightlifting.
