With Ohio State heading into the game ranked #8 in the nation and Virginia Tech not being ranked at all, some might call the 35-21 win for the Hokies a surprise, but considering it was J.T. Barrett at quarterback for the Buckeyes and not Braxton Miller, it shouldn’t be that shocking to see the end result.

Notre Dame Over Michigan – Ending the Rivalry With a Humiliation
One of the more storied rivalries in College Football is going on hiatus, but the pain of being shutout for the first time (31-0) in 30 years again anyone will be remembered for a long time by anyone involved with the Michigan football program, putting immense pressure on Brady Hoke to turn things around. For Notre Dame, it’s a big boost of optimism carrying on with what should be a very tough season, enjoying the new and improved Everett Golson.

USC Over Stanford: The Pac-12 Getting a Familiar Powerhouse Back
Some games mean more than just a win, and USC beating Stanford 13-10 to show the Trojans should be taken seriously while the Cardinal might be heading into something of a down year compared to their very successful recent past, is a deceleration to the whole Pac-12 and maybe College Football in general that someone’s back.

NFL – Week 1 Predictions (49ers vs Cowboys, Colts vs Broncos)
The two most interesting games as the NFL sparks back into action with a full Sunday schedule are those on the edges: The early game between the San Francisco 49ers and its injured/suspended defense and the Dallas Cowboys with plenty of defensive problems themselves, and the late show between the Indianapolis Colts and last year’s Super Bowl losers, the Denver Broncos.

Oregon Over Michigan State – Toughness No Longer a Problem
The game was closer than the 46-27 score, but Oregon proved that toughness and playing against a physical, smash-mouth team like Michigan State might no longer be a problem for them thanks to a great second half from Marcus Mariota and Royce Freeman, which was yet another low-point for the Big Ten as its teams keep getting hammered in non-conference play.

Yankees Over Royals – Playoffs Still Not Given Up On
The numbers suggest the New York Yankees won’t be making the playoffs, but with hitting like they had in a 6-2 win over the Kansas City Royals which included an excellent day from Martin Prado and another solid start for Brandon McCarthy, maybe it’s wise to keep our eyes on them a little while longer.

College Football – Big Ten Takes Huge Rankings & Playoffs Hit
It’s not wise to make assumptions about what happens at the end of the season based on week 2 results, but it’s safe to say the Big Ten won’t be having a team in the College Football playoffs after a terrible run of results in one day, with Michigan State (losing to Oregon), Ohio State (defeated by Virginia Tech) and Michigan (crushed by Notre Dame) getting beaten quite harshly to show how far their conference seems to be right now from the rest.
